My bandmate Stu uses one and I think Chris was looking at getting one too. Their names on here are Pliskin and Finbar respectively so might be worth sending them a PM with your questions. I know Stu doesn't log on that often so might not see this thread.

I think I got my Digiverb off ebay for £35! At that price it was an absolute bargain and I used it for years before upgrading to the Hardwire. I do hate the switches on the x-series stuff though, I used the bass distortion and it was really temperamental about whether or not it turned on and off.

DI Boxes / Preamps / Practice Tools

EBS Microbass does all the above including a dedicated headphone out which not many will have. -
Did you have any level balancing issues or thoughts on the usefulness of the switches?

I picked up this from Simwells from the for sale section as per this thread:- http://basschat.co.uk/topic/156228-dha-vt1-std-overdrive/ First Impressions:- First thing I did as a big nerd was to pop the back off and inspect the insides. Don't let the hand drawn case markings fool you, the insides are built on a solid looking PCB with a lot of unused component spaces. Presumably the same PCB is used for the higher end models as well and this more basic model uses a similar circuit but without the extra bells and whistles. In any case, it looks very well made and the housing and controls feel nice and sturdy. There was an LED which I initially thought might be for clipping until I plugged it in and saw it lit up the tube in a pleasant blue when engaged. Nice touch! The unit came with a JJ tube which pleased me as my amp uses JJs and Matamp swear by them so I was glad it was something decent and not a cheap one to save costs. Sounds:- I don't have a bass amp at home so went straight into my computer and through a cut down version of Amplitube to provide the bass amp sound. I wanted to try it through my MXR M80 but why can you never find a 9v when you need one? Anyway, Amplitube has a passable solid state bass amp sim and I dialled in a decent tone and hit the pedal. First thing, the power supply was very noisy. I was hoping I could get away without needing a better one, but no such luck. Despite the noise, the pedal sounded great. I still got a lot of the bass and amp sound but the pedal added a nice amount of grit to the top on lower settings. And while my MXR and previous Sansamp sounded buzzy and unusable at higher gains, the DHA sounded as good maxed out as it did at the lower ends. The 'i/p pad' control was basically an input level control and could be used to push the tube to break up. I was able to get a nice, thick distortion sound which begged to have some Rage and Muse basslines played through it while keeping the sound of my bass. Overall then, very good. Dare I say on a par with the Darkglass B3K videos I've seen on youtube? No, as I don't have one of those pedals to try it out against but similar from memory. More on this later when I've had more of a play and a re-listen to the demo videos. Cons:- Well it's not the prettiest pedal in the world and the need for a 12v psu requires an extra plug as few power supplies cater for 12v. It's probably also a fault of the setup I initially tried it on but the levels needed tweaking a bit too much for my taste when changing settings, and without the 'bright' and 'boost' switches on, it sounded very weedy. I will explore these more when I get to my bass amp but I thought I should mention them to give an accurate first impression, although I stress it's probably more my skills with Reaper at fault than the pedal. Overall then, a keeper for me for sure. The best bass distortion I've tried for sure. Time will tell if I come to resent the lack of tone control or blend function but for someone with a very small setup (tuner > this > DI) it's a very nice sounding and easy to use distortion box. I'll update this when I've tried it amplified and maybe had a play with different vavles.

Got home an hour or 2 ago with my DHA VT1 Bass bought from Simwells under my arm (he fortunately lives very close to me so I was able to pick it up). Very nice guy, the pedal is also excellent and was a very good price. He also has an enviable selection of pedals in his room

A very belated message, bought a couple of PIO caps off Nick, he underpaid on the postage but was apologetic and immediately offered a partial refund to cover the extra costs. Apart from that slight hiccup (in all fairness the new postage costs confuse me too) a very good seller, very good communications and quick to assist if something goes wrong.

I'd get one if it tone shapes as well as provides a DI signal (ie Sansamp, MXR M80, DHA DI-EQ) and you rely on it for your specific sound. It's always good to know the sound being put out front of house is similar to what you hear at practice. If it's just a simple box, most venues will have their own although they come in handy when recording so it might be worth getting a decent one as they don't cost that much.

That looks very nice, +1 for the wenge neck. What other tweaks do you need to make to it?

I've used the Digitech X series reverb and the Hardwire 'verb. The X series was very wet sounding and good for interesting noises but the Hardwire beats it in simply sounding nicer and more transparent. Both have blend and decay controls but the X series is more extreme and I reckon would suit post rock sounds better. Have you looked at the Line 6 Verbzilla?

I think it's only available in kit form and is a very difficult build. It's also around £100. Personally, I'd just go down the 2nd hand route unless you like a challenge. You're right though, it sounds great.

The best distortion for me (sound like a whole band)
sounds like you want a harmonic perculator or one of its clones. You're sounding a bit steve albini.
Fredric effects do a decent percolator clone and they're regularly on e-bay. I got mine for around £50 posted against £70 new. -
The bass and guitar t-birds both look amazing.

There are too many for the newcomer, and the pricing and country of manufacture thing is a little confusing. I'm sure if I came up with a spec off the top of my head I could find a Fender that fit but it wouldn't be a simple job.

Just kidding :-) Am I wrong in thinking the casing is plastic (albeit high grade stuff) on the Soundblox pedals? Might be a shielding issue.

Well she'll be around for a while then, whether as a singer or a songwriter time will tell.

Wasn't a fan of the 2 songs I'd heard but from that video she clearly has a great voice. It'll be interesting to see if she lasts or indeed writes any of her own stuff. I'm not qualified to comment on her looks.

I'm having the same problem with my amp, can anyone help?
