FWIW, i used to gig a alu cone behringer 4x10 with an old Crate head and had no troubles. Sound quality not great but it worked and was loud enough.

You were lucky, mine and every other person I spoke to had the cones come away from the surrounds very quickly. Maybe you got a later model when they fixed the problem?

Maybe chuck in D'Arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf Der Maur from Smashing Pumpkins - don't often see them mentioned on here, and have laid down some solid rock basslines during their tenancy in arguably one of the biggest Alt/Rock outfits of the last twenty years - it's always the sodding guitards/frontmen/drummers who hog all the limelight :)

I'm sure I read somewhere that Billy Corgan recorded the basslines on the albums as he's a massive control freak.

I'm really surprised at that. Brad and Satchel were Shawn's springboard, so to speak, so I thought they'd still be readily available. Try Amazon, and look out for "Shame", "Interiors" and "Welcome to Discovery Park" (all Brad), and "The Family" by Satchel, which features Mike Berg on bass. I had a copy of EDC by Satchel, but struggled with it. I thought it was a bit too "trippy". You might be able to hear them on Spotify too. Conversely, I can't seem to get hold of Shawn Smith's solo stuff... :)
Massive fan too, even the Pigeonhed album "The Full Sentence" is worth a look. "Battle Flag is fantastic. :)

I got and fell in love with 'Interiors' for a while but never got any Brad stuff beyond that. Might be time to round out the collection.

4. Awesome. I'll have a review of my rig soon and definately consider picking one up. Looks like I'm getting the VT1 for sale on here so it will be good to have an all DHA rig :)

5. +1 for Mike Watt and Carol Kaye.

My grunge background demands I mention Ben Shepherd (Soundgarden), Robert Deleo (Stone Temple Pilots) and John Curley (Afghan Whigs). None of them do anything particularly flashy but they're all amazing solid players who know when to go off on their own and when to rein it in.

6. Do not buy the Behringer aluminium cone bass cabs. They are apalling quality. I usually try and give a balanced opinion on stuff but you'd have to give me one for free before I took it and then I'd instantly remove and bin the speakers. I owned a 1*15 and a 2*10 and every single speaker broke within a couple of weeks of reasonable use and the last one blew, taking my amp head with it.

£90? I got one of the plain heavy duty cotton/suede ones for a tenner!

It was this exact one - http://www.thomann.de/gb/levys_mssc8_blk_gitarrengurt.htm

I use a blonde one of those, goes well with my blonde Warwick. I think the 1st strap I ever got was a cheap Levys and now own a few on various guitars. Still got my first one, they've lasted for ages and for abot £12 you can't go wrong.

Halfords do seatbelt cushion pads that would fit guitar straps for about £2-3. Beats spending silly money on straps.
