1. I saw one in good condition in a guitar shop a year or 2 ago for £45. Still regret not picking it up
2. Where's the guy with the Christina Hendricks avatar pic when you need nice racks discussing?
3.
thats very nice
+1 I'd have matched the headstock to the body colour but that's just personal preference.
4. Could be a unique and interesting bass if you can iron its flaws out. Best of luck, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
5. umph builds pedals, not sure if he built the one he refers to but might be worth asking. Feedback loopers sacre me personally, not a fan of the crazy noise.
6.
It's worth pointing out that you'd need a pickup, convertor and module for what you want to do. I use a GK3b into a AX101 into a MicroKorg (although I've used a variety of hard and softsynths in the past.
I had a look at your blog but I'm pretty dumb about this kind of thing. Would that setup work plugging into any midi capable synth?
7.
In terms of sound, can someone explain what frequency responses are about?
Not really, I assume it's the same as speakers whereby the less db loss you get on low frequencies the better. Sounds like you need a pair of closed back 'phones. Have a look at Sennheiser HD201 or 202. Both are in your budget and look pretty good.
8. Seems like there's some good info here.
9. I'd give the OC2 as clean a signal as possible by putting it first. BSW (Bass synth wah?) would normally go after distortion but I'd imagine there's some cool sounds to be had by putting it after as you have done. Is it worth making a sticky thread on pedal order? Admin?
10. These are really nice pedals, probably the best I've heard in terms of sounding like a cranked valve amp. Great if you can afford the pedal board space!
11. Hmm, I get the feeling it's going to be cheaper to get a 2nd hand Tonehammer and a decent power amp.
12. Muse would be an obvious choice, not sure if 'Time Is Running Out' is a synth or over the top fuzz but it's a good line with an unusual sound.
13. Nice, I always wanted a GS to try and make my rig as locally built as possible (I play through a Matamp) bit I can't let go of my Japanese Ibanez LP. Just got to keep my eye on E-bay.
14. Check e-bay, I got an MIJ black knob/green label one on there for about £50. Great pedals, have a bump on me.
15. That's a great looking bass! Is that a Gordon Smith in the b/g too? I'll get some pics of my Streamer LX up at some point.
16. Have you tried replacing the output fuse? You might just have tripped it, esp. as the tubes are all still coming on but presumably no sound is coming out.
17. My audio interface has never had a driver update so playback in Reaper was just a constant, horrible tone. And no, it wasn't my playing. I installed a free program called ASIO4all and that fixed all my problems. Might be worth a try. +1 for Reaper too, does everything Cubase does and is actually reasonably priced with loads of free updates.
18.
Looks like its' a righty lefty nut.
Or for someone who plays with 4 E strings....
19. If you buy Behringer, steer well clear of their aluminium coned speakers. Awful, breaks really quickly (a few weeks of moderate use) and one blew and took my Warwick head with it. I'm fairly reasonable when it comes to cheap gear but this stuff shouldn't even be on sale it's that poor.
20. Matamp swear by JJ tubes, not sure if they'd be ideal for an Ampeg but another option to bear in mind.
21. Also look at the Line 6 DL4 and Boss Giga-delay.
22. I'd have said some kind of drive pedal too as you're keeping it admirably old school. Can't give you any tips though as my experience is fairly limited with bass effects.
23. Bump. I neglected to mention I'm based in Sheffield. I'm also willing to courier at a cost of £15.
24. Reverb swapped for a Visual Sound Double Trouble so now gone. Still open to offers and trades on the other 2. Oh, and bump.
