1. Thanks, got some cash coming in from a synth sale so I'll keep my eyes peeled for a bargain on here or e-bay. Paypal money isn't real money right?
2. Anyone tried the uber-cheap Epiphone EB basses around at the moment? I had a play in the shop and apart from a bit of buzz, really liked it. Very muddy, thumpy tone if you're into that sort of thing. I'm thinking of switching as I'm a short guy and reckon the smaller scale would suit me better. The low frets on my Warwick Rockbass are a stretch unless my bass is held pointing the ceiling.
3. Sepultura go to Ab and Deftones use 8 string guitars for some stupid low tunings (G#). I assume the bassist matches as he's only playing a 4 string in the Hexagram video!
4. I use a TNT (older style) for gigging and practice and I like it. But then I am easy to please as far as bass tone goes, ie if I can hear it, that's fine. The sound is pretty meaty if not exactly subtle. The wieght is a killer though, trying to manhandle that thing through narrow corridoors, doorways and staitcases is not easy at all. The single top-mounted handle doesn't help. Still, for £150 I can't complain, especially as it wasn't my £150.
5.
I know a few people already use the 22 Calibre (the micro amp they came out with last year) but this one will hopefully pack a bit more oomph. I want one!
Are the 22's any good? I've got a speaker cab (pics on another thread) and something that small would make a great one hand carry amp for small gigs. The 44 looks pretty sweet too!
6.
Might be hard to find off the shelf, but the parts are easy to get. Maplin/Farnell/RS/etc should sell all the bits and pieces you need (two spade connectors, a jack and some cabling). If DIY isn't your thing, OBBM might be able to make you up something.
Thanks, I might hit him up for something or get a carpenter to do me a back for the cab with a cut out for a jack plate. I just figured it would be easier to get a simple connector but I reckon I can DIY something from a jack-jack speaker cable if needed.
7. I have an old radio extension cabinet which houses an 8 inch Jensen speaker. My old Marshall combo had a y shaped connector with a 1/4 jack at one end for the amp and 2 spade connectors at the other for the +/- connectors on the speaker. I'm looking for a similar connector for my new cab for hassle free wiring but I can't seem to find one anywhere! Does anyone know where sells them in the UK or what to Google to find them? This awesome cab has been sitting in my room for ages begging me to play it but I can't. Apologies if it's just me being dense. No reason to post pics but look how cool it looks.
8. I traded for a Carbon Copy on here a month or 2 back, very nice pedals. As for the George Dennis, my guitarist uses the big green phaser, very nice sound. I'd have it if I hadn't just spent a lot upgrading my computer, seems like a good buy.
9. I like it but it's definately a tweakers pedal whereas I'm a set and forget kind of man (ie lazy). I was debating a DL-4 as there's 3 presets I can setup and leave but I've got the analog bug at the moment.
10. Damn, should have played that one a little cooler.... Straight swap is fine for me TBH, PM me your address and I'll send you mine.
11.
I have a Carbon Copy sitting here gathering dust. Would you be looking at a straight swap? m
Ideally but I'm guessing you want some cash too. How much?
12. Afternoon all, I bought this not long ago from Finbar on here when he had his clear out, and while it's a great pedal, I'm just not using it much so it's time for it to find a good home. Good condition (a couple of scuffs to the paintwork, velcro on the bottom) and boxed w. instructions and a power adaptor. Pic £110 posted or trade for a decent delay, preferrably analog with modulation and/or tap tempo (eg MXR Carbon Copy or Visualsound H2O) but I'm open to offers. Thanks. Gareth
13. Cool, I will invest at some point but I forgot how expensive having a girlfriend at Christmas is. If I shift my Rat pedal I might take you up on this.
14.
You know what it is, you know what it does. No box but I have the instructions. Great condition. http://www.aphex.com/pedals.htm £50 delivered. cheers! C
Are these really all that good? I've been considering one for aaaages.
15. You interested in some kent armstrong bass pickups? One p-bass, one jazz bridge. Interested in the Punch Factory or the Messdrive, and I live in broomhill too oddly enough.
16. That's pretty much my ideal bass right there. If I had the cash I'd have that in a second :-(
17.
Stereo Memory Man now sold subject to finalising
Finalised and in my room right now! Cheers Chris
18. As a guitarist in a metal band as well as bassist, I use a Line 6 2 by 12 cab with the speakers swapped for a Celestion Vintage 30 and a Hot 100. The amp (Matamp GT1) is set pretty clean and it sounds beautiful. Distortion comes from my fuzz pedal and the speakers handle the sound brilliantly. Plus the cab is on wheels and weighs loads less than our other guitarists 4 by 12. I've not tried Eminence speakers but have played through most modern Celestions and those 2 get my vote for drivers.
19.
Bump for pics. This is going on eBay on Thursday if it hasn't sold on here by then.
If I had the cash, I'd be biting your hand off to get this. Heard nothing but praise for them and just the thing I need to give my sound something extra.
20. I have a DD-3 and can help. The pedal will hold and repeatedly play what you put into it as long as the pedal is pressed down. The time for the hold is very short though, about half a second max and it will stop when you release the pedal. When the held sound is playing, you can mess around with the delay time knob and get some some nice osciallation effects. Hope that helps! Edit: never mind, Chris beat me to it.
21.
Might wanna keep the wire wool away, it will stick to the magnet and be distressing. Think these are what Ashdown used before they went to the Blue ones, or possibly BL10-150, were better regarded than the blues.
Thanks, there's just a bit of oxidisation I was trying to remove. Any ideas on other ways to get rid of it?
22. Hi peeps, new here and thought this would be the place to get rid of some of the stuff I've had lying around for a while and give it a new home! A while ago I had a friend build me a 4 by 10 bass cab which I finished myself. Long story short, by the time I finished it I'd switched from bass to guitar and now have 4 of these speakers sat at home doing nothing. Once finished, I played through the cab for maybe an hour so they're not broken in yet. They're 10 inch, 200 watt celestions, (BL10-200's), 8 ohms each in good condition apart from the surrounds on the front which are a little tatty. There's also some solder on the connectors which seemed a little obvious but worth mentioning. There is also some discoloration on the back cover of one but I reckon this will come off with some wire wool which I will do before posting. If it doesn't, I will send a pic and we can work something out. Pics can be provided if anyone wants. They're going for £38-50 per speaker or £133.50 for 4 on fleabay, I think £100 for all 4 seems fair. I'd rather send them all out at once but will split them into 2 sets of 2 at £50 each if requested. Postage will vary, one speaker (they weigh approx 3 kilos each) is around £8.97 and 4 come to £22.97 first class recorded. I'm based in Sheffield so can deliver or meet locally within reason. Any questions or priceoffers/trades, please ask and thanks for looking! Gareth
23. Weird, just registered and this was one of the first topics I looked at! I've seen this board and it's a beast, almost as much as the 7 string bass it goes through. Asking a friend about the DL4 Chris, I'll let you know what he says.
