1. Hey guys. This beautiful guitar is still available, just took it out for a bit of a play tonight. Sounding pretty sweet. Please don't make me put this on eBay!
2. Dark Lord - PM replied. Elvis Valentine - not looking for trades at the moment, I'm afraid.
3. No love for the Jack Casady? I find that hard to believe! If there's something wrong with the price then make me an offer.
4. Here are some pics: I'm very happy. Haven't had much more than a from the Leader of the Opposition, so I think I've got away with it. Just need to flog my Jack Casady now... *ahem* http://basschat.co.uk/topic/199066-epiphone-jack-casady-black-top-l375-inc-hard-case/
5. Now for some pictures: It's got a barely used set of flats on it at the moment, but I could stick rounds on it if you prefer. I am pretty flexible on meeting up to deliver. This is a great bass, it's just not for me. If you need further proof, Mani uses one pretty much all the time nowadays.
6. I'll be honest, it's not a strategy with a 100% success rate.
7. OH has just announced she's feeling "really hormonal". Sounds like the perfect time to bring another bass home. Should cheer her right up.
8. Picking mine up tomorrow. Haven't had explicit clearance from my line manager, but I'm going to work on the principle that it's better to ask forgiveness than permission.
9. Another question: if I wanted to replace the pick guard could I buy any p bass pick guard or should I get a US std one or a mexican std one?
10. Tried one of these out on Friday and I'm getting one. Beautiful neck and superb finish all over. Lovely sound from the pups. What's the best price people have seen for this one?
11. This is pretty much my dream bass. Breathtaking.
12. This is a beautiful bass which I am only selling as I have major GAS for another bass and it doesn't get as much action as my P bass or Rickenbacker. It's the one in my avatar, although I will post pictures when I have them. It has a non-original black scratch plate, although it comes with the original too. For sale for £375 collected. I live in Leeds but I travel up and down the M1 to Dunstable frequently so could deliver or meet in a lot of places. Hit me up!
13. How long do these signature models usually stay in circulation for? I'm really tempted by this.
14. Three. Looks to be the same layout as the new one.
15. Okay, another question - anyone know what sort of allen key I will need to adjust the saddles? Also - is this easy to put on (and I mean completely un-f***upable) or should I just get a guitar tech to do it?
16. @discreet
17. Have gone for the deluxe. Should be here early next week which would be good.
18. Would the High Mass bridge be better than the Deluxe? I could do with not waiting for USPS and not paying customs, tbh.
19. I'm loosening the tension on those strings, btw...
20.
cos it's a P bass- the general opinion is that high mass on jazz yes, on Precision no as it softens the perceived attack (thump)
Is that right? I thought the current crop of P basses (with high mass bridges) were meant to be great. Would the Deluxe bridge be better?
21.
It´s a good option but since you're buying a bridge why don't you get a high mass one instead?
A quick google only came up with the Deluxe Bass bridge, not the high mass one. If anyone can find a link to that I'd be grateful.
22. That's what I figured. Might order myself one of these: http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/p/917706/fender-deluxe-bass-bridge-chrome/?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=pricecomp&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping
23. @discreet - mine is an earlier version prior to the high mass bridge. I wonder if I should get one of those. :/
24. I assumed they did all allow normal stringing as well as thru-body. This is the bridge - am I being really stupid?
25. I have a Fender Precision American Standard from '97-'98 with thru-body stringing. I foolishly assumed that this meant I had the option to do this if I wanted. When I put new strings on it when I acquired it, I strung them through as it seemed like the natural thing to do, and didn't pay much attention to the bridge. I've just bought a set of Lakland flats, and it says on the packet not to string through the body as this can cause flats to crack. Two questions: 1) is this likely? I had Fender flats on it for a year and no problems of cracking etc 2) why wouldn't the bridge allow normal stringing? Seems daft to me. Okay, three questions: 3) is there a replacement bridge that would allow through body and normal stringing?
