I wonder if a Headway EDB-2 might do the job?

The Demeter is a naturally clean and bright amp, but it's just the really high frequencies on the BSX that are the problem (my electrics are fine). If I cut the treble on the onboard EQ it loses body from the overall sound, rather than the sheen on top, which stays there and just makes finger noise over the strings sound scratchy.

Okay, it's a Demeter VTBPM800D into a TKS1156. I often use a Radial Bigshot i/o, as I switch between the BSX and an electric bass a lot, but nothing else gets in the way.

So, I love my Allegro, I really do, but I find that the ultra high top end is impossible to EQ out. The bass is stock, with a piezo bridge and an active 3 band Bartolini system installed, but if I cut the treble on the bass it still doesn't get the really high stuff, which is too nasty and brittle to my ears. Cutting treble EQ on my amp also doesn't get rid either, so what gives? Is it the piezo, and I just have to live with it? Any ideas, Team Basschat? Cheers Gareth

Just keep a diary of rehearsals and gigs. In this age of smartphones, tablets etc., it's easy enough to do. If you have family, a calendar at home may help keep track as well, to avoid double-booking gigs with family events. I also always tell the bands that I'm in that they aren't my only gig. This has always worked well for me, but I would imagine that constant unavailability for one band could lead to being sacked, so try and make yourself equally available for gigs and rehearsals. Just my thoughts....

Hi folks Recommend me a decent lightweight 1u power amp for bass. Power doesn't need to be huge - at the moment 500 watts bridged into 8 ohms would be fine - just reliable and not silly expensive. Thanks Gareth

The 30 is essentially the old LB30 in a new housing. It breaks up easily, depending on the valve type and volume you are using.

I collected my 1156 from Bass Gear today and gigged it tonight. I have to say, I am amazed at how good it sounds. The 6" driver is a real secret weapon, as it just seems to sit on top of the 15s tone and give loads of clarity without any nasty tweeter sizzle. The 15" driver sounds huge, but in a controlled way. The cab's light too. And it's loud. I can't believe I'd ever need another cab, giving me a 4 ohm load, but a 1126 for smaller gigs is very tempting. Amazing...

I can only speak from personal experience, but I have owned two (one of which I still own) and they were both superb instruments.

Thanks chaps Rosewood or ebony is cool as the bass will wear flats. I don't want an ebonol board, which I think rules out Mighty Mite. Looks like it's All Parts of Warmoth...

I am looking to fit an unlined fretless P bass neck to a bass, but I have no idea which of these makes is better. Or are they much of a muchness, or is there another make to consider? Help me out folks!

Isn't just a pimped generic P bass?
