The bsx looks and sounds great but I've not played one so I'd be interested how it feels in comparison with a real DB?

The BSX Allegro (above video) looks interesting as well as it says it has a sound post and bass bar just like a Double Bass, so again even more of a resonant chamber. Ive not tried one though.
Tha advantage the BSX has over the Aria and NS ranges is that it's a proper acoustic body, just trimmed down, so you get that proper acoustic tone. It also has a neck and fingerboard that's much more ike a readl DB, thumb stop included. I'm persuading myself to keep mine as I write this!
But would you say the aria was a good option, compared to the NS? Obviously, it's only an opinion - but it's good to hear the thoughts of as many players as possible
I am actually selling my BSX here on Basschat, as I've decided I don't play it enough to warrant keeping it, plus I'd prefer a 4 string. I will almost certainly be downsizing to an Aria.
Thanks for that walbassist I assume the magnetic pickups on the Aria don't work with silver slaps though? I've got a set of Innovation Honey strings These have a nylon type core, but are metal wound So these should work with mag pickups, I assume? Cheers again Keep the thoughts coming folks....
Correct, the Silver Slaps are piezo only, so the cheaper SWB Lite would be the logical choice Honeys should work, yes. I should add my main upright now is a BSX Allegro, which is far better than the Aria was. Hello, and welcome, from another Hampshire Basschatter!

Yes, that'd be 500 watts into a 2 ohm load (i.e. 125 watts per cab), but agree that you should check with PJB that a constant 2ohm load is stable.

Great shop. Lovely guys.

The overall value of the bass has already been compromised by the refin, but obvisouly if everything else is original it will probably sell for a bit more than if it has a replacement bridge. If he admits that he has it, which he appears to be doing, in my opinion he has to find it or replace it a "like for like" off eBay or similar.

Yes, I like that. If it comes in sub £100 it could be popular. Product page here
Gareth, Thanks very much for the pics and input. Much appreciated. There seems to be a clearer picture emerging of what and where the tweaks need to be. 1. One inch narrower at the shoulder. 2. Scoop out a little at the inside at the neck, possibly. 3. Narrow the strap down as we head down the back, to take out the slack. Karl
My pleasure Karl, and thanks again for letting us test it. I agree those changes would be the ones needed.

So, here's my thoughts.... Beautifully made from top quality, soft leather. Clearly a high quality, hand-made product. It was perfect over the shoulder and made my already lightweight basses feel like they weren't there. I would imagine for heavy basses it would be terrific. I agree that it's too wide though. I'd slim it a touch on the neck side, and quite a lot on the other, as there's a big gap between the outer side of the strap and your back as it runs across the back. Thanks for letting us test the strap, Karl, and I'd be tempted by a couple of simple single strips of leather cut to my chosen length. In the post to ead today, 1st class recorded. Cheers Gareth

Action for slapping -how low/high do you like it?
franzbassist posted a topic in EUB and Double Bass
Hello all I've been playing pizz for about 4 years now on my BSX and am very comfortable with an action of around 7-8mm at the end of the fingerboard. However, as I am starting to play quite a lot of rockabilly I'm not sure this is adequate, as I struggle to play cleanly and miss the strings when playing at pace in a band setting, so..... I ask my BC brothers and sisters, what's a "typical" action for slappin'? As the BSX is easy to adjust I could just play around, and probably will anyway, but I am curious to know what others go for. Oh, I've got Silver Slaps on the bass, for info. Thanks Gareth -
Sold a set of strings to Gavin and it was as smooth a transaction as our last. He's a 100% top geezer.
