1. I use my BSX EUB for about 25% of an average gig, with songs spread through the sets. I use a Radial Bigshot i/o to switch between that and my fretless, using the trim pot to balance the output and mute for tuning. I try to get a "core" tone from the amp eq and then use the active eq on each bass to taste.
2.
I think I prefer the LB, all that chrome

What's with the CTM30? The LB30 in a new dress? Not even a gain control to differentiate it by the looks of it. Oh well.
I agree. The LB30 is one the best looking amps there is. I understand that Ashdown changed it because they had complaints about the name and took it as an opportunity to re-house the same amp in a CTM chassis. Personally, I'd have just taken the name off the existing head!
3. The new version of the Little Bastard... the CTM30.
4.
...news just in: In a UK exclusive, TKS Engineering in Sweden have sent across a few of their new cabs for us to have a play with. Hopefully the postman won't be late...! Extra light 112 (L112) 8 kg, neodymium speaker (There will also be a matching L212 available - around 14 kg). In white vinyl and cloth grille:
Excellent Michael Is the above available for purchase?
5.
I play a 5 string Precision, a Mike Lull, with flats and it sounds great. I'd recommend one in a flash. You could ease yourself into playing 5's with less expense by checking out a Lakland 55-01 or 55-02. There have been a few in the For Sale section. I don't think they all sold, so have a look. They will be very good basses.
I think this is spot on. There are some seriously good 5 string Ps out there, all across the price ranges. The best thing is to play as many as you can and pick one that works for you.
6.
2x VS112 is more portable i guess.
Yes, dimensions-wise, but they are pretty heavy. The build quality is also much lower, although they sound good.
7. I had an LB30 and loved it. I ran it with a 4 ohm LB212 and it was just perfect. There's an LB212 on eBay for a good price here, and a silly expensive one here. The alternative is a combination of the VS112, 212 or 115 cabs, but they are Chinese made, and much heavier than the UK made LB cabs.
8.
Yep - literally just spoken to James and there is a Minnie Rackmount option Don't have final prices but I think Minnie is looking like £975 in the UK with the rack at about £50 more. Final pricing will depend on how many we can order up front and shipping costs plus whatever the prevailing £ vs $ rate is. There's also the monster 1600w D which is just 12lbs: http://demeteramps.u...1&product_id=94
Forgive the thread hijack, but are BG going to stock Demeter as well Barrie?
9. My personal preference is La Bella Black Nylon strings - perfect tension, tone and feel (for me).
10. I'd defintely go fretless and/or upright. It's my band's standard setup and works really well.
11. How much for one cab couriered, if that's an option?
12.
Would this help clean up my sound ?
Probably leave you sounding a touch sterile. Oh, and lighter fuel works well on rust too.
13. These are great amps. I ran one with a Demeter preamp for a while and it sounded amazing.
14. Why not sell it with the EH ones fitted and offer the Mullards as an "upgrade" for £x extra? Unless you plan on keeping the Mullards for something else?
15. I think calling him a luthier was generous, to say the least.
16. Jack Bruce plays bass on a few tracks from Bernie Marsden's "And About Time Too" album from around that time. For example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLLyEaXpuPk PS No one thundered like Cozy!

Another excellent transaction completed with Martin. He's a BC legend!
18. I can get all the gear in my signature in my VW Fox, but if I'm moving band stuff as well it's a Nissan Terrano for me.
19. These work well, but they are not cheap!
20. I use a Radial Bigshot i/o to switch between EUB and fretless at virtually every gig. A very simple and cheap solution.
