1. The C4 will be more aggressive sounding than the 6B, so probably the best bet for you
 2. I sold Tony a strap. It was a simple and low cost transaction, but all went very smoothly and I would happily deal with him again.
 3.
Wonder what cab would suit it
A 4ohm 2 x15?
 4.
Thanks for that Gareth, sounds good! Did you have the neck pup soloed? Have you got flats on it?
Yes, neck pickup solo with just a hint of bass boost, and the bass is wearing Lakland flats.
 5.
Very nice! I really should get round to posting some pics of my new KT5 on this thread! Did you ever do the video?
Thanks. No I didn't do a review yet, but to keep everyone amused I just knocked this up. Filmed using an HTC Flyer tablet, with the bass running through the Peavey practice amp my son uses for electric drums. It doesn't sound the greatest, but at least you get the idea. 6. At home today, so snapped some pictures of my VT5
 7. As it was...

And as it is now, in more austere times ....
 8. Hi Marc What did you think of it? I have always wanted to compare this to the Bassbone I have. Cheers Gareth
 9. Quick update. I played the bass last night and again this morning, trying all sorts of pickup balance and tone setting variations. No problems at all I can only assume it was the venue, most likely the induction loop. Thanks for all the help Gareth PS Totally agree about squealing piezo as a band name!
 10.
Sounds great. Remember to post some pics when it arrives!
Oh I will
 11.
Did I see somewhere you're in discussion with Paul for another Wal??
Yep, using some chestnut from the garden in my Mum and Dad's old house.
 12. These are superb basses. In my opinion they nail the upright tone. I absolutely love mine, although I have been mulling over selling it to get the 4 string version
 13. Very nice example of a classic amp. I had one of these as my first "proper" amp. Great amp, great seller, what's not to like?
 14.
Hard to be sure, but I once got that kind of sound coming from my Overwater - one of the really good ones! I was a bit freaked to start with, but then had a thought as such a problem had never occurred before.. I asked if there was one of those induction loop thingies for hearing aid wearers. Turned out there was, and as soon as that was turned off (not actually needed anyway, they switched it on in that hall as a matter of course) all was fine. Never had a re-occurence. Does your gear sound as expected again today? If so, I'd suspect the venue!
Ah, the venue did have an induction loop...
 15.
Sounds like a piezo element is failing? Is it happening on one /pair of strings more than the others? From my experiences piezos usually tell you they're giving up either by humming or squeaking, never in an attractive way. Worth looking for iffy solder connections or stressed wires (esp where they join the piezo element) but I'd get in contact with the maker - they're very likely to recognise the symptoms.
Thanks D. Haven't had a chance to give it a good going over today so no closer to a diagnosis. I have an email in to Veillette, so I am sure they'll come back to me with a reply tomorrow.
 16. So, at sound check last night I noticed a short, sharp squeal coming from my Veillette. It wasn't constant and varied between an almost feedback squeal to a fizzing sound. At first I assumed it was the batteries dying, so I popped in a fresh pair to no avail. I also trimmed the gain inside the bass, but that didn't solve it either. I was running the bass through a Bassbone, with my BSX upright in the other channel, and that bass didn't have the same problem so I'm confident it's the bass and not the amp. I also ran the bass direct into the amp, and it still did it set up that way too. It seemed to be more obvious when I blended toward the piezo rather than the magnetic pickup, and a quick google just now suggests piezos can squeal? Any ideas BC? The bass has worked faultlessly since I bought it new three years ago, and nothing has changed in terms of strings, setup etc. Cheers Gareth PS One thing I didn't try is a different instrument lead.
 17.
Sold it on as it wasn't grippy enough for me. However, having spoken to Lars at Richter he's going to send some straps to Phil at Bass Gear for me to try out! The quality was certainly there, lovely straps.
The Springbreak is also available with a microfibre underside, so that should address the slippage problem I had (albeit with a slightly neck heavy bass).
 18.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Have managed to pick up an as new 4.5" wide Richter Springbreak for good money, so hopefully I'm all sorted.
Sold it on as it wasn't grippy enough for me. 20. PM me your address Jake, I have some you can try.
 21. I regularly mistype basschat as asschat. Something very different.....
 22. It's too quick (drummer's fault!), but here's my band doing Wichita Lineman. Sounds best in headphones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=row3eyKWms8
 23.
Oh really? he's not desperate to sell, although it has been up for a month or more, recently readvertised though.
That's just me. If he isn't desperate to sell he's less likely to be open to haggling. If you are comfortable offering £280 then why not try that.
 24. Given the state of the market, and the age of the combo, I personally wouldn't go over about £250.
 25. It'll be around 350 watts with an 8 ohm extension cab. The later 2x12 version (Silverado Special) was a 350 watt combo. The aural enhancer is effectively a mid cut: the more you turn it up the more it cuts the mids while boosting the lows and highs.
