1. Yeah baby!
2. I am tempted to get one of these as a back up as well. Will be interested to hear your thoughts.....
3.
Dibs for when this one is also too small
4. I think the first option should always be to contact the seller. In my dealings with him, Mark has always come across as a decent guy, and I am sure he'll do what he can to get it sorted.
5. I believe the Sale of Goods Act applies for used items as well as new?
6. Have you voiced your concerns to Mark? Sounds like a warranty return to me....
7. Morning all Anyone spotted one in stock anywhere? I bought a Nano but it's too small! Cheers Gareth
8.
I tried a TTE500 today, and whilst I can see what people mean about it being a convincing valve emulator, it does not have the bounce. And, actually i didn't like it that much either. The compressor was good, but overall it just didn't have the weight.
Mine came alive when I dropped some old Mullards in it - much warmer and fatter tone, yet without any boominess.
9.
If you want an all-valve sound without the weight, try to find a Warwick Quadruplet preamp. This has a tiny valve power amp and output transformer running a dummy load, and then a low current signal is taken from that to the preamp's output. They did heads too, which used the same preamp and then had a powerful solidstate power stage. I think there are some other designs like this but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
SWR Interstellar Overdrive? To the OP, depending on geography, you are welcome to come and try my Markbass TTE500 if you like.
10. This is a beautiful bass.
11. I have three of the Tremolo model, which I stuck with after trying out loads of different picks. Before that I used the medium pointed Ultra Lites. They do stick to the fingers well, especially when it gets hot and sweaty. As you'd expect, the thickness of the pick you use has considerable impact on the depth of tone created.
12. Bit of a longer chat with Dan at Empress just now, giving him some more detail, and he says 9V should be just fine for my needs.
13. Thanks for that, but yowzah that's an expensive solution. I think I'll just buy a dedicated 24V PSU for the Empress and have done with it. Any recommendations for a PSU rated at 24V (130mA)?
14. Hi folks Although it can take 9V, I'd like to power my new Empress ParaEQ with the full 24V they recommend. Any suggestions? Cheers Gareth NB: Edited original post to focus on Empress, rather than daisy-chaining it at 15V with my Bassbone
15. I would highly recommend Sandberg. My VT5 is a wonderful bass: beautifully put together, lightweight, tone for days and it looks the biz!
16. What, if anything, are you thinking tradeswise?
17. Sold some tuners to Matt. Instant payment and great communication. Happy to deal with him again.
18.
Not especially heavy, about 9lbs. It feels neck heavy. The weight save I think would be the equivalent of removing one of the tuners. Might try that and strap it on and see how it feels.
That was going to be my next suggestion.
19. Is it neck heavy (i.e. does the neck dive?) or just plain heavy? If it's the former, it may well be worth doing, but if it's the latter I wouldn't bother.
20.
$35 !!???!!!
Indeed
21. Funnily enough I may have just chaged my mind! For a while I was using V Picks Tremolo, which were really nice, but the other night I tried my guitarists Blue Chip and was blown away by the depth of tone. So, I may try one of those, but they are very expensive!
22. If it were me, I think/hope/pray I would use the P to scratch the "back to basics" itch. If the Clover already does a good impression of a Jazz then keep it.
23.
500. I wouldn't think the 800 would be much different would it? More headroom I suppose...
500 is an analog power section, while the 800 is digital.
If the TTE sounded muddy, maybe the colour control was up.
+1 to this.
