1.
FWIW, I'm now running Lakland flats on everything. The La Bellas are awesome, and the Lakkies are a different flavour of awesome (and far cheaper, which helps ).
+1 to this
I put status flats on my thumb bass, not my thing at all sucked the tone out of it and I think the E string was dead. Sounded horrible.
+1 to this too. I liked the D and G strings on the Status flats, plenty of sustain, but the E and A strings were just totally dead thud.
2. I use a Gator GP66 percussion gig bag. All the big stuff in the main compartment, all the more delicate and small stuff in the outer zip.
3.
Not 100% sure about the Sandberg strings at the moment, but we'll see. We now have a zoom Q3HD in the house, so I may try to do a video review if I ever get time! Did you manage to do yours today walbassist?
I have mixed feelings about the Sandberg strings too. At first I thought they were really nice, but then I started to think they were too loose. No matter either way now as I've put flats on mine. I didn't get a chance to shoot the video in the end, but will do so over Christmas. I have a Q3HD too and will use mine as well, they are very good little units!
4. This one? Looks super classy, great for black tie gigs! The KT must have a heck of a punch. Can't wait to hear what you think of it. Good score
5.
Fingers crossed, my new baby should be arriving tomorrow!
Yay! I, meanwhile, have the day off, so will be shooting a review of my VT5 for Youtube......
6. Couldn't agree more. I have been playing nylon flats on my fretless for about three years now, but when I slapped some La Bellas on my fretted it was like.... SHAZAM!
7. You could do a lot worse than the Markbass NY151RJ cab I'm selling here on BC....
8. They have landed, and they are great!
9.
it was like coming home - but coming home after someone's kindly built you an extension and a 2-car garage, re-decorated the house, and filled your fridge with beer.
Quote of the week for me so far! Enjoy the new bass, it looks great and sound like you've got a great one
10. Just got a "Heads Up" strap from the USA, but have since sold the bass I was going to use it for. It really does work, and you can use the lead weights to get the balance just right, and because they are at the back of the bass you don't feel they add weight at all, just balance! I don't want to make much of a loss on the strap, so asking for £45 (I paid £50) for it. I will cover the postage, which given the lead included will be substantial! Cheers Gareth
11. Have you popped the scratchplate off to check no wires are loose?
12. Hi guys Just to let you know I have just had a tracking note from DHL to say the picks are due for delivery! Will aim to get them out to you over the next couple of days if they do actually make it to me today. Cheers gareth
13.
If you don't wear ear plugs when you perform then it is probably your ears.
This.
14. I played this bass yesterday. It's really nice. Very well put together, feeling surprisingly strudy for an acoustic bass, and lovely tone.
15. Looks amazing Rick. Whoever does your aging for you is a god
16. Now that is an incredible deal for some superb gear. Those cabs are so good.
17. I have just completed a trade+cash with Clarky. Faultless the whole way through, superb communication, instant payment. The man's a BC legend!
18. Hi guys Just had notification that the picks have shipped, so hopefully we'll have them by the weekend! Cheers Gareth
19. Very nice. I'm tempted to get one of these as my next Sandberg, exactly the same as yours but with a maple fingerboard. How are you finding the all passive setup, especially the "secret switch" for quick tone changes? Cheers Gareth
20. Assuming it's genuine, and who really knows, that's a heavily modded and de-fretted P bass. The only original parts are likely to be the (stripped?) body, neck, tuners & screws, neck plate & screws, strap buttons & screws. Everything else looks to have been replaced.
21.
Holy crap! Good luck with that.
+1 to that
22.
Hell's teeth I nearly missed this - haven't been checking this thread because I've been dealing with the surprise that I'm about to be evicted which is as lovely as it sounds. Please put me down for the last 2. I may be almost homeless, but I'm going to play bass! And well done walbassist for struggling more manfully with the site than I did!
Glad there were still some available. I'l drop you a PM.
