1. Hi chaps I have no idea if anyone will be interested in this, but I have one of the original UK LB30 sleeves available. It's similar to the PRC version, but the main difference is it only has a vent on the top, rather than the top and side. £25 posted, if anyone's interested. Cheers Gareth

Pedaltrain Nano with bag - £35 Source Audio Programmable EQ (four different EQ settings at the push of a footswitch!) - £110 Bigshot i/o - £55 TC Polytune tuner - £55 Discounts for multiple purchases, or trades for a Bassbone welcome, as is collection from NE Hampshire or Central London. Cheers Gareth
3. Just leave it there. There's a slight recess on the underside of the bridge for it to slot into no?
4.
No prob - and what a fabulous looking bass. Have you modified the controls?
Thanks. The original pots were long gone when I bought it so I added the P Retro pictured. I've since managed to source an original set of pots and taken it back to passive.
5.
To clarify the Jamerson reference, it was the fretless Precision (ref is Standing in the Shadows of Motown - Life and Music of Legendary Bassist James Jamerson) - it refers to him having played the fretless on the Supremes 'Someday, We'll Be Together' - it's actually a quote from keyboard player Earl Van Dyke who said he almost threw it at the wall and said "don't you ever let me play this piece of sh*t again". Presumably didn't work how he wanted.
Well there you go, apologies To make up for the error of my ways I offer up my 1970 fretless P in (viewing only) tribute....
6.
James Jamerson - a noted upright and fretted Precision bass player, is reputed to have thrown a fretless Precision at the wall of the Motown studio, after using it for a session. Not precise enough, perhaps
I'm pretty sure the reputed bass was a Fender Bass V and not a fretless P.
7. Sold my lovely Ashdown LB30 to Carl a while back. A pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
8. Hello Si Can you use this pedal to switch between two instruments into the same amp? cheers Gareth
9. Why would you want to do this, effectively making your bass a giant mandolin?! I can understand the lower tuning, but why in 5ths? The patterns you're used to will all go out the window.
10. Cold Chisel's Ian Moss does the business on this track by the Black Sorrows. Great song, band, and solo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgRPaQoawIs
11.
Spill the beans, how do you get the MB badge off? It appears to be stuck on, extremely well on mine?
I just prised it off, took the grille off the head and pushed from behind with a screwdriver. Came away easily.
12.
I like it but I'm not 100% sold on relic basses...but I could be swayed.
I know what you mean. That said, my VT% is going to be aged, just because it's almost a trademark of what Sandberg is (i.e. a nice shiny new Sandberg looks weird!)
13. For your consideration, just in at Bass Direct....
14. Hello, and welcome!
Options are 550 touring combo 2X10 550 watt (spyder) or the MAG 300 2X10 300 watt combo.
Of those two, the Sypder 550 wins hands down. No contest.
15. Dave bought two valves from me. Quite a small transaction but handled with the minimum of fuss: great communication, fast payment. I would be delighted to deal with Dave again.
16. I don't have one yet, but a VT5 will be winging its way to me when it's finished in November In the meantime, I'm sure TRBboy will be along to give you all the skinny....
17. Personally, I don't like it. If you are going to relic, I prefer the subtle look...
18. Had hoped to attend, but as my daughter is swimming in her first national champiosnhip that day I think I'd better attend that instead!
19.
Can you tell me more about that bass Walbassist? I guess it's pre-CBS, Don't think I have seen one with those type knobs, only the old stack knob Jazz's? I have a spare set of covers lying around, looking at yours make me want to put them on my CIJ P fretless.
Without wishing to hijack Nick's thread, it's actually a 1970, which is the first year they made fretless basses. Clarky is correct that the bass had a P Retro fitted when I took this photo, but I have since sourced a set of orginal pots, so it's now back to stock. Cheers Gareth
