Are they any good for doing YouTube vids and stuff? Been looking for an easy, cheap way to do that....
Yes. I shot these two with mine. A gig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHgNowixTvw&feature=plcp And a review... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjuLMqgk4Qk&feature=context-chv -
That guitar amp has feet on the side?! Not sure I'd want to prop that up on it's end.
Indeed, the TTE is so light I don't think standing it on its end would be wise at all.
Good point, do the valves have retaining clamps
Nope, as Opticaleye says, they are well secured in the sockets.
-
The TTE can sound full at relatively low volume in comparison to my Little Mark. I'd be scared to change the valves, even for vintage Mullards, as the TTE sounds so good with the JJ's already. If the sound is even better - wow!
Agreed, I'm running my input gain passive and set between 10 and noon and it sounds full and warm, so nothing to worry about. I know fitting Mullards really took my Ashdown LB30 to the next level, so maybe it'll do the same for the TTE. If not, I'm happy with the JJs (darn sight cheaper too!)
So wanting this RJ, but I'll be waiting to see how much the 800W version is going to be? The only concern with that is the 500W version may be better because it might just be a wee bit warmer that the new class D version? Why do they keep making my GAS so difficult eh?
The 500 is mahoosively loud, do you really need 300 more watts of class D? I say buy the 500.. there may even be bargains to be had.
They'd probably be closer (input gain higher) if I wasn't so wary of shaking the windows! The settings will probably vary depending on the bass with this amp (unlike the LM2 which I left pretty much flat). I'll be rehearsing next week and it will be the first chance to hear it with the 2 Club 121's in a band situation. Also I will be able to test it with my NSD electric upright. I'd be interested to hear what you think about the Mullards
I shall let you know about the Mullards! I've noticed on a few of the demo videos that people are running the input gain much lower than what is technically the optimum setting, presumably just so they can have a bit more "play" with the volume knob setting. I've certainly noticed that if I have the gain knob set just back from where the led comes on, I can only turn the amp up by the smallest amount before it's deafening!!!

Dropping some vintage Mullards into my amp tonight! And anyone noticed how Opticaleye and I have almost the same settings on our amps?
Loving the look of that rig Gareth. The RJ amp is probably the only Markbass head I've ever really liked the look of completely.
Thanks, and yes, I have never really liked any of their other amps either!
... and don't play too near to the bridge.
In fact, rest your forearm on the neck pickup cover of your P bass and pluck with your thumb of a pick right by the neck join! -
I haven't gassed for years but that is a good looking rig. How much did you pay for the bits? I love 15's too.
It was an all ex-demo rig, so not as much as you might think
-
I always thought those 15's would work well as a pair. They can go pretty low on their own but they don't get 'boomy'. Running a 2nd one should fill the sound out nicely without it all becoming just low bass.
Yep, that pretty much sums them up.
-
I bet the 2x15's kill
Indeed, it's incredibly loud (not that I need that), the lows are full yet controlled, and the tweeter control and "colour" give a nice sheen to the sound to avoid any danger of mudiness. Very happy.... Mind you, the 1x12 cab stack looks a good option too!
-
Did I hear that a second cab headed in your general direction as well? If so, I bet the stack looks awesome!
You heard correct Barrie. It looks, and more importantly sounds, incredible!

I sold Mark his old Epiphone Jack Casady back to him. Great communication and a thoroughly decent gent to boot. A pleasure to do business with and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
Not bad it sound really nice and warm crisp and clear which was just what I was after. Only trouble is my LB30 just isn't powerful enough I really need to upgrade my head soon.
I found my LB30 to be plenty loud enough if I was using it with big cabs. Worth thinking about if you like the tone of the LB?
Drool!
Here's my new rig, Markbass TTE500 head and two NY151RJ cabs. Tube pre, tube compressor, tube eq, analog power supply. Very loud, and very tubey!

Thomann - How long to sort a problem?
franzbassist replied to silentbob's topic in General Discussion
I'm in the process of returning two cabs and these, verbatim, are the options I was given in an email:
1)Musikhaus Thomann organises a return with DHL / your local post. You would simply be required to drop the parcel off at your local post office (with the returns label you will have been sent) and 15 EUR per parcel would be deducted from your credit note for this service.

2)Musikhaus Thomann organises a UPS collection. 30 EUR per parcel would be deducted from your credit note for this service.
3)You organise a return yourself to Musikhaus Thomann. I can't really lug two cabs to the PO so have gone for option 2. I'd have no issue returning basses and amps via option 1, but lesson learned methinks as far as cabs go! -
