1. Great cabs. All the spec is here. Only reason I am selling is I have two, and really only need the one. Only gigged three or four times, and a similar number of rehearsals. I have taken the Markbass badge off, but it's obvisouly included in the sale. Comes with Roqsolid cover and original box. £490 couriered to your door, £475 collected from NE Hampshire. Cheers Gareth
2. Soundslive and Academy of Sound often have good deals on Ashdown stuff, may be worth checking them out/getting in touch? Good BTA prices here and here If cabs weren't an issue as well I'd add Peavey VB2 and Traynor YB200 as other possibilities.
3.
eBay - Procells.
+ 1
4. Andy is a top bloke. Great communication and very fast payment. I would highly recommend him.
5. Simple sale of a valve to Lee, but great communication and instant payment. Very happily deal with Untune again!
6. Good thread Even if a vintage bass doesn't increase in value at a rate that makes it a good investment at the moment, it will almost certainly hold its value better than a bass bought new. I have bought a number of boutique basses over the years and, much like driving a new car off the forecourt, they have always lost a large chunk of their value as soon as I picked them up - the one exception to this rule are Wals! - so now I'd rather pay a decent price for a used instrumet that I know is a fantastic player. This applies to proper vintage basses as well as instruments of more recent construction. My 1970 fretless P bass is a good example: it's an absolute tone machine and is just a joy to play. It wasn't cheap, has plenty of "mojo" and isn't 100% original as the original pots had been removed (I put a vintage set back in though ), but it will hold value. Happy hunting! Gareth
7. Too far for me Hope you find someone!
8. Will bought a Pedaltrain and some valves from me. He is a credit to BC with excellent comms and speedy payment. I would happily do business with him again.
9. Good shout! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvLVSPPLZZY The cool bass kicks in around 2.48 for those that are interested! One of the first basslines I ever worked out. Tricky to play and sing, and the bass tone on that album is fantastic. And welcome to Basschat!
10. Protetcion Racket electric bass case is pretty deep front to back, so it may well fit in one of those!
11. I have had a similar situation for a few years now, as I both play electric and EUB at virtually every gig. Switching pedal and EQ is definitely the way to do, and my two options have been: i) Radial Bassbone, which is a great all in one unit ii) Radial i/o for the switching with a separate programmable eq pedal to give me four preshapes on the fly Both work well, but I am just in the process of selling off the i/o and eq pedal to go back to a Bassbone. Cheers Gareth
12. Pedaltrain and Polytune ON HOLD
13. Where are you based?
14. Hi chaps I have no idea if anyone will be interested in this, but I have one of the original UK LB30 sleeves available. It's similar to the PRC version, but the main difference is it only has a vent on the top, rather than the top and side. £25 posted, if anyone's interested. Cheers Gareth

Pedaltrain Nano with bag - £35 Source Audio Programmable EQ (four different EQ settings at the push of a footswitch!) - £110 Bigshot i/o - £55 TC Polytune tuner - £55 Discounts for multiple purchases, or trades for a Bassbone welcome, as is collection from NE Hampshire or Central London. Cheers Gareth
16. How different do these sound to the all-valve fellas?
17. Just leave it there. There's a slight recess on the underside of the bridge for it to slot into no?
18.
No prob - and what a fabulous looking bass. Have you modified the controls?
Thanks. The original pots were long gone when I bought it so I added the P Retro pictured. I've since managed to source an original set of pots and taken it back to passive.
19.
To clarify the Jamerson reference, it was the fretless Precision (ref is Standing in the Shadows of Motown - Life and Music of Legendary Bassist James Jamerson) - it refers to him having played the fretless on the Supremes 'Someday, We'll Be Together' - it's actually a quote from keyboard player Earl Van Dyke who said he almost threw it at the wall and said "don't you ever let me play this piece of sh*t again". Presumably didn't work how he wanted.
Well there you go, apologies To make up for the error of my ways I offer up my 1970 fretless P in (viewing only) tribute....
20.
James Jamerson - a noted upright and fretted Precision bass player, is reputed to have thrown a fretless Precision at the wall of the Motown studio, after using it for a session. Not precise enough, perhaps
I'm pretty sure the reputed bass was a Fender Bass V and not a fretless P.
21. Sold my lovely Ashdown LB30 to Carl a while back. A pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.
