1. Head now found a new home, cabs still here
2. A friend of mine sang there last summer. I'll drop her a note and see what she says.
3. If you don't send it back the irritation will fester until you can't stand it any more, at which point you'll sell it on.... for a big loss. Best thing is to send it back now.
4. If it has to be Ashdown and it has to be a combo, I'd try and stretch to this
5.
It only has a tube preamp - the power stage is solid-state.
This is correct. It's the same dual tube preamp in the 220, 330 and 550 heads and is very nice. The difference comes in the quality of the power section for each (220 = Electric Blue, 330 = MAG, 550 = ABM). I had a Spyder 550 and it sounded amazing, but my concern at the lower end of the range would be reliability, or lack thereof.....
6. Effortless sale of some pcicks to Gerry. Instant payment and great communication all along.
7. PM in the morning when I'm not so tired, so first dibs please!
8. I have something Fender and vintage from 1966 incoming that will appear here in a couple of weeks....
9. My moody shot of my 1970 fretless P, hopefully to be joined by something very special (and older) from the same maker very soon.......
10. Two Vs-112s is a great little setup, I am a big fan of paired 1x12s as they are so versatile. The only concern I have with the VS/LB112 is that the power handling is pretty low, so I wouldn't want to put a Spyder/ABM/MiBass 550 through a pair.
11. I'd imagine there's little difference between the LB112 and the VS112. I'd say go for it!
12. I can't believe I'm doing this, but I have seen a bass I have wanted for many years at a very good price, and as my 1970 fretless Precision is getting all my playing time at the moment this is the obvious bass to sell to fund the new bass. This bass was made for me and delivered December 2009, the spec is:

Semi-hollow poplar "Archtop" body with a spruce top and black binding finished in light amber
Maple 34" neck with unlined ebony fingerboard
Ebony saddle (19mm string spacing) and bridge
Citron Humbucker and D-Tar piezo pickup with D-Tar Eclipse preamp (volume, bass, treble, blend, with variable gain between mag and piezo)
La Bella black nylon strings (spare set included)
Gotoh Res-o-lite tuners
Dunlop Straplocks
The bass plays beautifully, the action is very low, and the neck profile is flat and fast. It balances perfectly and weighs 8.5 lbs. The combination of piezo and magnetic works really well, and the range of tones is huge. Condition is perfect save for a slight pin sized dent in the side and a small finish repair (about 5mm long) where the gloss finish on the under side of the neck came away and needed touching up. Here's a video review I shot a while back. Audio isn't great but what the hell.... I'm asking a firm £2000 collected from NE Hampshire or London (WC1). If you need it posted we'll have to talk. If the other bass I'm after sells in the meantime then I will withdraw this bass. Cheers Gareh
13. I can't speak for 3 and 4, but I suspect the Spyder is more your tone than an ABM, even with the tube way up on the latter.
14. Hi there, and welcome It'll work, certainly, as according to the EBS site the head can run an 8 ohm load, but whether they sound good together is another matter. In my experience, some combinations of different brands sound great, whereas others can be much less successful. If it were me though, I'd want to check whether the Reidmar puts out the full 250 watts at both 4 and 8 ohms: if it puts out less into an 8 ohm load it may not be enough for a gigging situation. cheers Gareth
15. Cheers guys, and where would I find a suitable dummy load thingy?
16. Thanks for all the replies folks. Well, I love the tone from my LB30, so perhaps the Drophead 200 would be a better match for me than the BTA anyway....
17. The other head I like that really is all-valve is the Drophead 200, a positively anorexic 44lbs, but I would be reluctant to gig it!
18.
PS Is a BTA "all valve?" I thought it was some sort of hybrid?
Actually you're right, it's the usual ABM front end with valve power.
19. Haha thanks chaps! To be specific, it's an Ashdown BTA 200.
20. I would love to see the Bass V reissued as well. I know it's a weird looker, but I have always had a soft spot for it.
21. La Bella 760FS on my 1970 fretless. Rotosound RS66LD on my 1988/9 MIJ fretted, but only because I use that bass in a Jam tribute band and those are the strings Foxton uses! Otherwise it'd be La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels 45-105.
22. Brook Guitars, just outside Exeter, are very good.
23. Mark took an Ashdown head off my hands. Thoroughly top bloke and wouldn't hesistate to deal with him again.
