1. Blimey, also my first bass around 1979.
2. Fingers (and thumb) ever since I started playing some 30-odd years ago, at least until a few months ago that is, when I joined a Jam/Weller tribute band and had to get my pick-playing chops up to speed sharpish! It's actually been a good discipline to learn, much like bowing has improved my upright playing, and has made me appreciate it as another valuable string to the bass player's bow. Finding the right gauge pick for me was vital (0.8mm, since you ask). Cheers Gareth
3. An interesting trade offer on the table, but still available at this time.
4.
It would be a bit useful. But I've got a few other repairs and projects to sort out over the summer, so funds are low (as ever!). Hope it goes soon.......
Maybe you could use your frequent buyer discount?
5.
And it would be useless for teaching...those two inputs are just put there by the marketing dept to make you think its a great little amp. Right?
Correct. So you are sure you don't want it?
6.
Tell me its really, really quiet, and would never cope with any of my dinner jaazzz gigs...please. And those puny little speakers can't make a decent tone for bass.
That's right Duncan, you'd hate it. No really, you would....
7. Up for sale is my amazing and totally mint Phil Jones Bass "Cub" combo. Seriously nice piece of kit, and rather than repeat myself you can see my full BC review here. £399 new, I'd like £290 posted. Cheers Gareth
8. P-Retro fitted Squier Matt Freeman A really nice bass, quite remarkable what they can put out for under £400 these days. The P-Retro is awesome, real "P bass on steriods"!
9.
pm'ed
And sold!
10. Hello all I have one of these straps for sale in BLACK. It's the medium length version, adjustable from 123 cm to 153 cm. It's really nice and in very good condition; good, strong and thick leather. The only thing I need to point out is I drilled a small extra hole, for a straplock, on the bridge end of the strap. Harvest say: This strap for heavy instruments out of buffalo leather comes with the classic length adjustment. Made with a nice vintage pull up finish and produced with decorative offwhite seams. The strap is made out of two layer of full grain leather, together these are about 3 to 3.6 mm thick. Full grain leather is very strong and durable. The strap's width is 8.5 cm. It is the perfect width for holding the bass comfortably over a longer period of time. 20 euros plus postage new, I'd like £10 plus post. Cheers Gareth
11.
ill have the felt washers zig
In the post today, thanks very much
12.
I've been eyeing the LB stuff for a while... How loud is 'very loud'? Nice setup btw!
Well, clearly it's a subjective term, but to me it is plenty loud enough for my two bands, and one of them is a Jam/Weller tribute band so quite, er, loud.
13. Thanks Raggy
So you've sold the Ken Smith and the Wal then?
Yes Dunc, the Smith and Wal went some time ago. I think my uber boutique bass days are past me now, shame it cost me so much to realise it! It's just the Veillette fretless (awesome), BSX upright (awesome), and the P bass now. I may get a small lightweight digital head as well, but this seems to be doing it for me just now.
14. Here's my latest setup. Ashdown UK-made all-tube head with matching LB212 cab, plus a P-Retro fitted Squier Matt Freeman. It's a killer setup. The amp goes very loud, and the bass was good even before the P-Retro went in. Cheers Gareth
15. Sold Uke a strap. No problem at all with either payment or communication.
16. If only someone would buy my Veillette or PJB cab. I want these so bad!
