1.
I for one would like to keep the option of posting upright related items for sale on this forum. There are so many bass guitars for sale on here a double bass for sale post can soon be lost and may be missed. At least we could have a thread with links to the relevant for sale section.
My original suggestion was going to be that we should "do a Talkbass" and have two For Sale sections; one for electrics and one for uprights. Wasn't sure how it would go down though...
2.
Is it worth £2750?
This is an edit of the original post yes? Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for a Wal of that vintage.
3.
The double bass/EUB section is for discussing matters relating to the beasts not for advertising them....
Might be worth a sticky in the DB/EUB section to this effect Bob, as lots of DB stuff is advertised for sale there.
4. Nice looking Wal. Original flight case too I think? There was a time, late 80s early 90s, when that 50/50 thing was considered cool. It may have been custom ordered that way but I doubt it. If you contact Paul Herman at Wal and tell him the serial number he may well be able to confirm what configuration the bass had when it left the workshop. Cheers Gareth
5. Is that the one that was in The Gallery? I so wanted that bass; it was created the same year as me!
6. I would love this, but sadly I am in a post-Christmas finance funk
7. Been using the video feature on our HD camera today and filmed a couple of clips. I've uploaded one of the Archtop to Youtube; it's okay but you can't really hear the changes in tone that well. I may try again with a higher quality mic fitted at some point.
8. You could always by my Ken Smith Burner to feed your fretted 6 needs
9.
It is with big regret that I have to let this go but I no longer need a fretless bass, this wal is as new & sounds & plays out of this world, it is on the wal web site in basses & gallery (american walnut facing with gold hardware, it cost me 4'250 I'm asking 4000 or px for the same but fretted, ken smith bt6 black tiger as in my avatar or maybe an alembic series 2 5 or 6 string, Any questions & I'll be happy to answer them.
That's a lot of bass to let go so soon. Why not do the classic Walnut trick and ask Paul to make you a fretted neck?
10. Happy New Year Both good shops and you can't go wrong with either. Bass Direct also have the fabulous BSX bass, which is more like a proper upright (I own one), as well as the 35" scale flattish fingerboard Dean Pace, which I've heard is quite like a fretless bass. The Gallery usually have a nice mix of stock too. Cheers Gareth
11. Happy New Year The PJB D200 would be an obvious fit, but it may be a bit underpowered for the bigger gigs. An alternative would be the Euphonic Audio Doubler; expensive, but very nice and specifically designed for upright. Cheers Gareth
12. Still available. Will be at The Gallery from late next week as a commission sale.
13. My Veillette Archtop. Quite simply my favourite fretless bass ever.
14. I use two 6Bs and absolutely love them. Really well put together cabs, shame I can't justify an 8B as well
15.
In that case I'll have your EBS chorus and octave to replace my ageing BOSS units!
Sorry WH, they're long gone.....
16. I always like the idea of effects and have bought and sold various units in the past, for example I made up the fantastic board below, but I never actually use them! So, apart from using the limiters built into my PJB amps, I use no effects. Cheers Gareth
17.
Me and a Gun-Tori Amos
Ouch, yes, forgot about that one
