1. Bob Gollihur says this about the WAV: I recommend you consider a suitable outboard preamp or be conscious of the fact that, like any instrument with a passive piezo-based pickup, some EQ work will be a good idea to shape the tone to your preference. His page on do you need a preamp with your pickup? is also a good read.
 2.
Yeh, I've seen his youtube clips. Pretty splendid sound. So is his BSX.
If this was Facebook I'd put a big fat "Like" thumbs up here, but it isn't, so I'll put instead!
 3. This is dead easy, and lots of fun
 4. I have La Bella tapewound flats on my piezo-powered Veillete fretless. I'd never used them before and expected them to be nasty, but I think they are just the right tension and have loads of lovely mwah, plus they are kind on fingerboards and fingers too!
 5.
Same here - I swear by mine. I have the molded ones with ER15 filters in them and I've rarely done a gig without them since 2000. Well worth the money - think of it as a few quid a year to protect your hearing for the rest of your life.
Plus the one to all that. I've been using them for 15 years and vary the filters according to how loud the situation is.
 6. Here's a nice Mk III Wal. Similar, no?
 7.
Seems like a blend between a Sandberg and a Human Base, which makes for a very appealing bass indeed!
I've always thought they look like MkIII Wals. Very nice!
 8. Great price for a terrific piece of kit.
 9.
is the strap button on the neck, could be the answer on such light instruments
No, it's at the neck joint. Veillette use an unusual system of a single bolt with a T joint (apparently, I've never taken the neck off), and the strap button is attached to this. It is rock solid. You can see what I mean in the picture below.
 10. It still amazes me that my Veillettes have no neck dive whatsoever. In fact, they are very lightweight and balance perfectly.
 11.
it's the price which is the show stopper for me!
And this from a man with a pretty hefty range of kit in his sig!
 12.
+1 it was actually this review that sealed the deal for me (so to speak).
I need to start asking for commission soon. By the way, have you seen my big PJB rig too?
 13. A good friend of mine went from a £100k salary doing CGI on blockbuster movies to earning £40k a year gigging in a very good function band. He works his nuts off driving all over the country pretty much every weekend, whereas he used to pull an average 12 hour day in a windowless Soho studio. He supplements the gigs with teaching privately and in local schools. He sees his wife and kid a whole lot more than he used to. He is very self-motivated and proactive in getting out there. His band get most of their gigs through two of the biggest agents in the UK, and they worked very hard to get on the books. Am I jealous of him, playing music for a living? Yes. Would I have the balls to give us my regular salary to do the same? No. Is he happier now than he was? Hell yeah. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Gareth
 14.
Anybody tried using one of these as a stage monitor whilst using the DI to go into the PA?
I haven't. They aren't that loud, so it all depends what kind of volume your band is putting out as to whether this is feasible or not.
 15.
its a date then Gareth my 8b arrives on Monday, i think your advert when you were selling your rigsaid you had a hot covers made for your 6b. Does it fit ok cos I could just tell them to make another one but just make it longer Is there a cover comes with the M300? got to wait till the next shipment for that.
The cover was loose on delivey, but they took it back and tucked in the edges and now it's fine. No cover with the M300; I had a flight case made for mine.
 16.
Mick Im going along to see Gareth on the 11th of March at Bentworth. Fancy joining with me or are you playing
The more the merrier I say!
 17.
That's exactly where he is!
I've fired off an email to him. Thanks.
 18. Sounds perfect for me. I shall drop him a line. Where in NE Hampshire are you? I'm in Alton.
 19. My PJB rig sounds very different to any other rig I've owned, but I really like it.
 20.
you should avoid running flat out at 2 ohms in the summer months
When I asked Phil Jones he said that was referring to the hot and humid American summers and was unlikely to be an issue in the UK! I run my M-300 at 3 ohms for almost every gig and it has never missed a beat (touch wood)
 21. You could have a lot of fun with these two. Dead easy to learn.
 22. I had a Wal doubleneck (fretted and fretless 4s) that was a great bass, but it was VERY heavy. Obviously a 4/6 combination should be a bit lighter and balance better, but finding one will be tough! Gibson, Rickenbacker and Shergold used to make 4/6s and 4/12s many moons ago, but they've always been rare and demand top dollar as vintage instruments. You may find cheapish instruments on eBay, which may be fine for a first dabble to make sure it's the way you want to go. Then of course there's the silly money you could spend on the custom route... Good luck! Gareth
 23. I wonder how much feedback influences the eBay teams when a dispute opens up? I have over 500 positive feedbacks and am rated 4.9 out of 5 for the accuracy of my item descriptions, so I hope they'd cut me some slack! Regarding the OP, I always put a few words to describe the case when selling an instrument on eBay. Usually phrasing the sentence "This bass also comes with..." to suggest that the bass is the main auction item and the case secondary. For example, the Ken Smith Burner I finally sold on here recently had a case that I described both here on BC and eBay as "worn but fully functional". I hope you get it sorted. Cheers Gareth
 24.

This is cool as, even his hat is cool......
