1. I have used both. Each bag is well put together with plenty of storage. Overall though, I'd say the Mono probably edges it a touch, but not much. However, where it matters, the Pro-Tec offers more protection as it has a rigid frame and panels to front and back. The Mono has a better neck support if the bass has an angled headstock, but as your Jazz doesn't it's not an issue. My vote: Pro-Tec Cheers Gareth
2. I could understand if it was still in Scotland, but I doubt there's much snow left in Crawley to delay delivery...
3. I have a Burner 6 for sale (see my sig below), but am not interested in trades I'm afraid.
4. And just where is this warehouse? Might be quicker to go and pick it up!
5.
Ronnie Lane
There really is a Ronnie Lane, named after the great man himself, in Stratford, E12.
6. Is it possible to use multiple instruments with the Line 6 systems? If so, how much are the extra transmitters? I could see the guitarist in my band benefitting from this system, given that he typically has three guitars, a mandolin and a banjo at each gig!
7.

I gigged Winter Song on my BSX upright at the weekend. What a great tune, and bassline! For years I used nickel rounds playing fretless, but my Veillette Archtop fretless came wearing LaBella black tapewound flats and they sound amazing; plenty of "mwah", easy on the fingers and the board. Well worth trying. Cheers Gareth
8. I love these Bolin basses. My Veillettes have a similar vibe...
9. I had one of these, top notch bit of kit.
10. Price drop to £875 posted in the UK.
11. I tried stock strings, Helicore Hybrids and Innovation Silver Slaps on the Aria EUB I had, and the low tension, gut-like qualities of the Silver Slaps were the best choice by some way, both in terms of feel but also in the sound that was produced. I've since upgraded to a BSX Allegro EUB, which is a much more hybrid instrument as it has a proper hollow body. I'm still using Silver Slaps on it and, for me, the sound is just divine. Just my 2p's worth...
12. Evening all I've decided to see if there's any interest in my Veillette Paris fretted 5. This is a stunning bass which hasn't even been out of the house since I received it! The spec: Two piece poplar body with a radius top finished in a light tobacco burst Maple neck Pau Ferro fingerboard Two Citron humbucking pickups Aguilar OBP2 18v active preamp (volume, balance, passive treble and active bass) Gotoh lightweight tuners Hipshot "monorail"-style individual bridges Weight is a shade over 10lbs, and it balances perfectly. Needless to say, it sounds wonderful, with a big fat tone that would be best suited for rock, blues or a soul kind of vibe. Played with a pick it's really slicing, and the tonal difference between the pickups is huge, so you can go from a P bass to a J to anything in between. So why am I selling it? Well, I've been playing more and more fretless over the last few years, so much so that I don't see any point in having a large sum of money tied up in something I just don't play; my Veillette Archtop fretless is all I need. New, I think would be some way over £2k now, but I am looking for £1850 posted in the UK, and will ship it in a new Protec Contego case. If you live in the SE you are welcome to come and try it out, either at my home in NE Hampshire or at work in Central London. Cheers Gareth
13. a "lots of interest but no one's bought it yet" bump...

15. Get thee behind me Satan! I really like this.....
16. did I mention the spare set of strings?
17. bump to say that this is now £900 posted, using a basic 2-5 day service, within the UK
18. This is now sold to Mike.
19.
Wow, what a fabulous piece of wood. By the way Gareth, check out Paul Hathway if you're looking for a mandola.
Thanks for that. I've played Paul's instruments before and they were certainly an option until I found a nice mint Fylde! Cheers Gareth
20.
Sounds good - paypal ok? Let me know an email address if so!
Thanks Mike, PM incoming...
21. I bought one of these last week to transport my new bow in. However, it only fits French bows and as mine is German, well, you know the score... So, £8.95 posted anyone?
22. Hello all I hope it's okay to post this here, given that it's a listing for a third party. Mods please free to delete if I am breaking any house rules. While talking to Roger Bucknall at Fylde about a new Mandola, he mentioned he had a 32" scale 4 string acoustic bass needing a home. Being the decent chap that I am I suggested he email me pics so I could put it up here for people to see. Here it is! Roger's asking for around £2300. You can email him [[email protected]]here if you want more details. Cheers Gareth
