I haven't had this long, so it is mint condition, and the only reason I am selling it is I am remortaging in a month's time and need to build a financial cushion given I'm facing a likely +4% rate rise! The bass is terrific: it sounds amazing (the T1 pickups are fab), is very light (7lbs), and balances beautifully. The basic specs are an American basswood body with a 5 piece roasted maple and walnut neck with graphite reinforcement rods. Scale is 32.5"(G) -35" (B) with a roasted birdseye maple fingerboard. The vari-mid 3-band EQ is powerful and has a bypass switch for passive tone control on the treble pot. As I said, mint condition but with the following modifications: the supplied finger ramp has been fitted (I used good quality 3M double sided tape) I have swapped out the straplocks for Dunlops and also added a second one on the treble side of the bridge (see picture) control knobs upgraded to metal (see picture) I have put some temporary dots over the luminlay side dots to make it easier to see where you are on the neck (see picture) Slight QC issue is the grey finish has missed in a couple of small, less obvious spots (neck bolt recess and a tiny patch under the bridge, which you can see in the third picture below). Mix of stock and personal pictures so will look to take more soon. Price is firm, shipped in the UK in the original packaging and gig bag. I'll knock £50 off if you collect it. So, what strings are we liking on our multiscale EHBs? I find the standard d'Addarios are okay, but I always prefer slightly heavier A and D strings. And related to the above, what brands fit the basses without having resort to super/extra long sets?

Not quite a match as the finishes are different, but a vast improvement nonetheless! -
Agreed, always the easiest option to shave off some weight. Another thought, why not put the weights inside the control cavity?
-
Do you mean the lip over the edge onto the top of the body? If so yes you do, as you need to ensure good contact all around to create the cage.
-
You have to create an enclosed cage, so I would say they have done it correctly.
-
Does it do anything else apart from increase the input gain?
-
Yes mine came with the standard gig bag too. Decent enough but a tight fit at the headstock with minimal padding there. The dots are just transfers from Amazon. Do the job for now but might get them drilled out in due course.

Here’s mine, with the extra strap button and some transfer dots.

I went ahead and bought an EHB1006. It is, without doubt, the easiest playing six I have owned. What I like: It weighs just 7 lbs! It looks fab: the roasted maple against the grey is uber sexy IMO It sounds fab: the T1 pickups are great and the EQ is very versatile Setup out of the box was perfect The ramp is a nice addition What I don't like: QC issues: grey finish missed in a couple of less obvious spots (neck bolt recess, tint patch under the bridge) As many people have said, the rear strap position combined with the wedge shape angles the neck away from the hand, forcing you to twist your wrist. I have added a second button below the bridge (near the jack) and it has completely transformed how the bass plays. The luminlay dots are rubbish: even if you charge them with a torch you're lucky if they last twenty minutes, and when they fade you can't see anything on a darkened stage The plastic knobs are tacky: decent metal ones on order.

Another very smooth sale to Alain. He's a credit to BC!

Thanks @Kev. Yes, the EHB is about the same.

Can anyone recommend a good gig bag upgrade for the multiscale version?

Knobs - stacked and single - where to buy?
franzbassist replied to franzbassist's topic in Accessories and Misc
That's a good find, thank you! I see they also do Sadowsky-style knobs. -
I need to buy two standard knobs to ft a 6 mm shaft and two stacked knobs to fit 8mm lower and 6mm upper ring. I had hoped to get the East ones, but they have no stock. Any other suggestions. I'd like good quality and matching style, flat top or domed is fine. Any suggestions?

I had a Cort SCMS which I dropped US-made Bart pickups and preamp into: the improvement was like night and day, so I agree 100% with this.

Nickel roundwounds with low finger squeak - suggestions

Went with a set of Ernie Ball Slinkys and they are just right. -
This thread depresses the hell out of me. I'm glad we have it, but I hate to see people who I consider to be friends (even though I have never met a lot of them) pass away
-
Hopefully you are right, Hans was always very prompt in replying when I was buying my cabs.
-
I bought mine after we left the EU. I don't recall shipping being extortionate (the cabs are crazy light), and I assume normal import costs apply.
