  1. I tend to pick them up over time from the reputable dealers on eBay. As you say 81s and 82s are easy to get and quite cheap, but finding decent 83s takes some looking. I don't pay silly money for them though. I think they change the sound for the better. VIntage Mullards, in fact most old production valves, just have a warmth to them that I don't hear in modern valves.
  2. I have one of these on order: the 1210H UL. I'm hoping it will be a good one cab solution. 600 watts, 4 ohm impedance, 65.5 x 41.5 x 41 cm and weighs just 17.3 kg. I've ordered mine without the tweeter.
  3. I've now got a full set of vintage Mullards in the preamp section of mine. Sounds glorious! For those that are interested, from right to left, we have: V1 = special quality ECC81, labelled M8162/CV4024, from September 1965 V2 = ECC83 from March 1962 V3 = ECC83/CV492 from November 1963 V4 = special quality ECC82, labelled M8136/CV4003, from December 1964
  4. I tried to use Eurosender a few weeks ago. Took an age to come back to me with an admittedly very good quote, but as my need was urgent I had already sent the bass with Interparcel. Indeed, it was delivered before Eurosender even quoted!
  5. Always thought that was a cracking bassline, and Guy has always been a most affable chap.
  6. All three sets are La Bella's standard gauge, 60/70/94/115/134, which seems heavy but is still a nice low tension. All are cut for three over two headstocks and are the Extra Long (38" ball to silk) versions. 1 x 760NB black nylon. Silks in excellent condition. £35 posted 2 x 760TB white nylon. Silks frayed. £25 posted. All three sets for £75 posted.
  7. I like the headstock on my Franz basses. Unusual but pretty cool.
  8. I only recently picked this up from @Platypus (whose pictures I am using, hope that's okay), and I absolutely love it. However, I have now decided to move to a single 4 ohm cab for my gigs, so I am going to have to let this go. These cabs are beautifully put together, easily on a par with Bergantino, and the 6" driver is voiced fantastically well: it allows you to sit in a live mix with ease. I have recently purchased a Hot Covers padded sleeve for it (£50) to keep it nice and snug. Drivers: 1- Custom 12” neo woofer w/ 3“ voice coil, 1- 6” neo mid driver Power Rating: 400 watts Impedance: 8 ohms Sensitivity: 97dB (1w@1m) Frequency Response: 55hz - 7kHz (-3dB) Usable Freq. Response: 40Hz - 9kHz (-10dB) Dimensions: 23.25”w x 16.75”h x 16 .875d * Covering: Heavyweight Black Cougar Vinyl Weight: 37 lbs 16.5kgs The cab is in perfect condition. I'd like £330 FIRM for the cab and cover shipped in the mainland UK..
  9. Sold a gig bag to Drew. Transaction was as smooth as a set of flats. Deal with confidence!
  10. New and unused in the shipping box. Perfect fit for the MarkbassTraveller 121H cab. This is the nylon fabric finish version. It cost me £50, yours for £35 posted.
  11. Morning all I just picked up a used ML-112 and absolutely love it. Anyone else in the Baer club?
  12. I think you'd have no problem being heard with a 3x10, or indeed any other combination. I like a clean tone so with the gain at noon and the volume between 11 and 1 o'clock it's plenty loud through my Baer 1x12. The more cabs you add the better it'll get
  13. Thanks, much appreciated. Sadly that B and E length means they won't work on the bass I was minded to put them on.
  14. I've found an excellent bag to keep the Little Stubby in. The Gator 19" wide DJ Controller Messenger bag. You need to add a thick piece of solid foam to the bottom of the bag inside for the amp to sit on, but other than that it's very good if you don't want a flight case.
  15. That was my thinking. Seriously, these things sound incredible and they have decent volume too.
  16. Could you measure the string lengths from ball end to silk for me, especially the B and E strings?
  17. Couple of photos to show what I mean about the foam. The central block is 39x24cm There are also foam coated wooden dividers you can use to divide the case into separate compartments, or you could do a combination of foam and dividers.
  18. Brand new in box. Bought to keep an amp in but it's not suitable. Pick and pluck has been separated to accommodate the amp but probably easy enough to reuse as it all came out in one chunk. Material: 4mm Black Type Hinged w440mm x d320mm x h90mm base External Dims: w440mm x d320mm x h145mm Foam lined Shoulder strap available for carrying purposes x2 Surface mounted catches Lockable with keys x1 strong black carrying handle Weight: 2.1 kilos The case was a version without the tool pouches in the lid: just the foam, dividers, strap and keys. I paid £52 posted, asking £35 posted for effectively a brand new case.
