  1. Excellent Rutles reference there 👍
  2. Thanks for the replies. I already use La Bella white nylons on my fretless and really like them, but for me I think the tension would be too low on a fretted, so I was looking for alternatives.
  3. Looking for half/ground wound recommendations? I’d like to find something that feels like a flat wound, super smooth and with minimal drag or noise under the finger.
  4. At least it isn't the same old 4 bar we're used to....
  5. I have a Little Marcus 800 and absolutely love it. Tremendously versatile EQ and it can go silly loud.
  6. I've had this for a couple of years. It's had an easy life and has hardly been played to be honest. It's a good, no frills, acoustic bass. Nicely put together. Currently fitted with La Bella white nylons which work really well on it. Body Size: J-14 Fret, Cutaway Construction: Dovetail Neck Joint Top: Solid Sitka Spruce Back & Sides: Mahogany Neck: Mahogany Nut & Saddle: Bone Fingerboard: Micarta Scale Length: 34” (864 mm) Neck width at nut: 1.58” (40,1 mm) Tuning Machines: Chrome, diecast Electronics: Fishman Isys+ (with Tuner) Finish: Ultra-thin UV-finish Strings: D´Addario PBB170 Comes with a nice gig bag from CNB (£40). These are now £400 new. I am asking £225 collected (preferred) or £250 posted.
  7. I'm in. Once my new Franz arrives later this month I'm not buying anything in 2019 apart from strings (if needed).
  8. I usually quite like MM basses, but this does nothing for me.....
  9. I really rate Hot Covers. Our PA speakers have lived in a pair from them for what must be eight years now, and they still look great. I recently bought the fabric covered version for a new cab and that's even better. Big thumbs up from me too. I like Roqsolid, but I think Hot Covers edge it.
  10. Mmm, nice. Smiths of that vintage are so sweet.
  11. I would be interested in a part trade+cash for a different Markbass cab: Standard 121 NY121 121H TRV102P
  12. The bees knees, the mutts nuts, all in one package.
  13. While not an amp, the Radial Bassbone OD works very well with DB. Switchable hi-impedance on one channel and HPFs on both.
  14. I can end this debate in one picture. A Fender Bass V done right, with an added J pickup and proper BEADG tuning.
  15. Alan fits custom Newtone strings to all his basses now, but used to use SITs IIRC.
  16. Have Newtone make you the exact set you want
  17. La Bella nylon flats are fine through body. Regular La Bella steel flats are not, which is why they also make specific through body flats (designed differently with a thinner core for the first 4" or so of the ball end). Pyramid steel flats are fine through body too, but not tried any othe
