  1. Ended up going with a Pearl EX785/C kit with 18x14 bass
  2. Sold a set of strings to Gary. Absolutely first class comms and a transaction as smooth as the flatwounds in question. Wouldn'tr hesitate to deal with him again.
  3. This would make a fantastic high power compact rig with the Little Marcus 800 also for sale on BC at the mo.
  4. Just popped these on my fretted Franz but they are too light for my taste. 750TCB Long scale so 37” winding, only on the bass a couple of days. Cut for 3 over 3 headstock. £35 posted Second Class Recorded.
  5. If they are wobbly you should be able to increase the tension on the tuner with an allen key via the bolt on the bottom of each tuner.
  6. What's the case your amp is in? Looks very neat.
  7. Here's what I used last weekend. My upright and 2x10 cab didn't make it into the car as I had to squeeze my son's drum kit in as well!
  8. They are usually roundwound strings with a flatwound nylon tape over the top, IIRC. La Bella white nylons are my go to string on fretless, but they sound equally as good on fretted basses.
  9. I haven't tried 30" fives, but I had an ACG 33" scale fiver that worked just fine. (.130 Newtone low B)
  10. Given how close you are to Wal HQ, why not ask Paul if he can loan you one?
  11. Yowzah, that is one hot looking bass
  12. Thanks both. He plays a Midtown kit at school so that has set the benchmark.
  13. Looking for recommendations. My 15 yo son is gigging regularly with my band now, and we just don't have the space to fit all my stuff, 2 PA subs and a full size kit in the car! Am aware of the Pearl Midtown and Ludwig Breakbeats, but what else is out there? Cheers Gareth
  14. Look at it here, all lovely and cute at a garden gig over the weekend.
  15. Sold to straps to Dave. The deal was as smooth as a set of flatwound strings, with instant payment and top notch comms. He's a good 'un people!
  16. My first decent bass was a Westone Superheadless. It had a superb EQ system in it and was a lovely bass to play.
  17. Even with the declared issues, given that this is a hand-made bass from one of the top US builders, that is a heck of a lot of bass for the money.
  18. Ah this classic, from back in 2012 https://youtu.be/x8QibZQbxSc
  19. I had a Spyder 550 and it was superb. Can't remember the valve configuration but I remember the core tone was just lovely.
  20. Beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder, because that does nothing for me visually. Sounds good though, which I guess is what really matters.
