1. I sold a pedal to Cameron. The deal was as smooth as could be. Happy to recommend
2. And let's not forget the numerous types of two channel footswitching units: Boss LS2 Radial Bigshot i/o Radial Tonebone Bassbone Providence Dual Bass Station to name but a few
3.
6 days into the 44-94, 6 months into the 55-01, 6 years into the '71 Precision. Loving them all so far!
A lovely trio there Si, and six years with the '71? Wow, only seems like yesterday...
4. Thomas Eich is a great guy and if it were me I would send it back to him. I wouldn't even begin to consider sending it to the US. The price differential between shipping to the EU and somewhere in the UK for a small amp like that won't be huge, and that way you know it'll be sorted by the man who knows best...
5. Have you eliminated all other possibilities? If you play an active bass, has it got a fresh battery for example?
6. Guts shot of the Glockenklang 2 band EQ. All very neat and tidy. volume knob pull for passive mode, with no change in output volume treble +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classic tone control in passive mode bass +/- 14 dB@40 Hz
7. I sold a pedal tuner to Damian in what was a very easy transaction. He was a pleasure to deal with.
8.
maybe because they are near Lake Superior ?
Maybe, who knows? At the end of the day it's a very nice HSC.
9. Again, not a hit, but I love the one Ian Moss plays on this song by the wonderful Black Sorrows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgRPaQoawIs
10.
It can happen in a theatre venue just as well. Some years ago I went to see Jules Holland and his big band at the old Civic Hall in Guildford. They'd just started and the moment the brass came in the power went off. This happened three times at which point the band were on the point of walking off but the technical crew replugged things and they finally got going. Most embarrassing.
I was at that gig too. It was a bit of a mood killer
11. So, the bass arrived yesterday lunchtime and I have to say it is every but as good as I hoped it would be. First impressions: Fit and finish is perfect. The attention to detail Xaver puts into his basses is just amazing. At 9lbs 6.5oz it's not as light as the Sirius fretless I have (8lbs 4.5oz), but perfectly manageable. Very resonant. Sustain across the board is terrific. No hint of a dead spot anywhere. Smells lovely. Not had a chance to plug it in yet, but will do so tonight. A quick snap of the chestnut top below, but I will try and take some better pictures over the weekend if we get some good sun.
12. I have this very nice, Canadian-made, hard case for sale. It's brand new, although I note a couple of scuffs on the top, and very well put together. It seems to be of a higher quality than a lot of the HSC out there. Pretty generic design, with good internal padding and a large pocket for strap and stuff, but I really like the large bumper at the headstock end. A nice touch. £65 couriered to your door in the original shipping box.
13. So the zip on my Mono Expander backpack failed two years into owning it. Very disappointing. The stitching just came apart. I contacted Mono, sent a copy of the original invoice, and even though the shop I bought it from is no longer a Mono dealer they are sending me a replacement gratis. Top service, very happy
14. I totally get the point that a new board is a risk, as there's no guarantee it'll sound as good as it did before: my reason for suggesting it was that the minute you do anything that changes the original neck you are devaluing the bass, so it may as well be an option.
15. Bass is in transit, but Xaver has just posted another picture on his Facebook page that I'll use to keep me going until it arrives The pale strips in the neck are walnut, which goes to show how dark the thermo ash used for the rest of it is.
16.
That is a lovely job. What did it cost (was that the £200 you mentioned in your earlier reply?)
I think it was £220 all in IIRC.
17. If you decide to go for a new board I would recommend Brook Guitars down in Devon. They did a superb job on this P bass I used to own.
18. I sold some cables to Cameron. The deal was as smooth as could be and he was a pleasure to deal with. Totally agree with the above comments
19. Unless it is proper vintage or valuable, I'd just have a nice unlined board fitted. Eliminating the lines and moving the dots on the existing board will devalue it anyway, so why not just have what your want?
