Yes, they can definitely sound different.

ECC81 should be for the compressor, which is V2, all the others should be ECC83.

So, my new Franz is really doing it for me, but it's got me thinking about how one sets neck relief on a single cut neck through. Obviously the bass side of the neck is more rigid than the treble side, given it effectively ends at the 12th fret, so what does that mean for truss rod adjustments, as presumably the forces exerted across the neck are quite different?

How high do you have to set the E to get it playing cleanly?

It could be any number of things, but have you checked the neck relief? Standard flats probably have more tension than the tapes, so you may need a touch more relief.

The website says they are strung with D'Addario Helicore strings, but on a 5 with a high C they add a Pirastro Jazzer or a Helicore Hybrid on a low B.
