1.
the keys are 3 bass (for B E A) & 2 treble for (D G) ?
Correct.
2. I love these bags - simple, elegant, don't take up much space - but as I've moved to basses with angled headstocks I'd rather keep them in something more suited to their design. Both bags are used but in good condition, I'd say 8 or 9 out of 10. Cheapest I've seen is £99 new, so £60 each gets it, plus postage at cost. Thanks Gareth
3. And here it is. I had a slight panic yesterday when it came in a bit heavier than I'd expected, but it's just the most gorgeous thing. Really really pleased with it. These are Alan's pictures from the website.
4. Brand new Hiscox STD-EBS for sale. Still has tags on it. My new ACG came in it, but as I don't use hard cases it's straight up for sale. £80 posted, or £70 collected from Hampshire. Not mine, but looks like this: Thanks Gareth
5. Brilliant, thanks very much. This is why BC is the place!
6. Hello all If you have one, would you please measure from the bottom of the inside to the top of the headlock pad? I ask as my new bass is only 33" scale length so I want to make sure it'll fit before I buy. Cheers Gareth
7. I took delivery of this wonderful ACG Krell in August last year, having ordered it in December 2015. It is a wonderful thing, really wonderful, but I've got the opportunity to buy a bass I have lusted after for some time, so up it goes for sale. The bass has never been gigged, never even rehearsed in fact, so is in absolutely mint condition, and comes with a hard case. It plays beautifully and balances very well. At 33" scale it's a breeze to play, with no dead spots and a nice focused low B. It sounds HUGE, and with both the ACG/East pre and the passive tone control there is an enormous amount of tonal variation on hand. Spec is as follows: Scale: 33" - the low B is nice and tight, no flabbiness Body core: Alder Top/veneer: Myrtle with Black 1mm veneer Neck woods: 5 piece Maple/Mahogany, bolt on Fingerboard: Macassar Ebony Radius: flat Head plate to match body top, with black veneer Back plate to match body, with black veneer Bridge: ACG/Hipshot 18mm spacing black Pre-amp ACG DFM 4K AP Stack 1: Volume/Blend Stack 2: Neck pickup low-pass filter, plus push/pull switch to activate the low mid boost at either 150 or 250Hz (adjustable up to + 12dB). Lower ring is filter frequency, upper ring is overshoot peak level. Stack 3: Bridge pickup low-pass filter, plus push/pull switch to activate either upper mid boost at 500Hz or an 8Khz "attack" boost (adjustable up to + 12dB). Lower ring is filter frequency, upper ring is overshoot peak level. Knob 4: Passive tone control, with a push/pull active/passive switch. The tone control works in both active and passive modes. Pickups: FB series in 32 x 110 casings Gotoh GB350 Resolite tuners Dunlop dual design Straplocks (replacing the original flush-mount versions shown in the pictures below) Standard finish of oil rubbed satin lacquer 9lb 4 oz (4.19kg) The bass cost me £2k. It's yours for £1350, couriered anywhere in the UK on a 24 hour service. Courier overseas at extra cost. I'd trade for a Berg 1x12 or a Darkglass 900 amp, with cash balance my way. Thanks for looking.
8. Not all flats are the same. Some, like D'Addario, are very tight, GHS Precision Flats, Pryamid and Laklands are lower tension, Thomastiks are even lower. And that's before you even start with nylon flats!
9. If it plays well I'd leave it alone. Much easier to go back to a lighter gauge that way.
10. Well, we haven't left the EU yet, but yes, when we do we'll have to pay duty and tax on imported goods.
11. Guys, this was originally my bass. It's a lovely example of the American Special. The honeyburst finish was only available for one year, and the fretless conversion was really well done by Brook Guitars in Devon. If you like fretless Precisions, trust me, this is a good one.
12.
There are a few videos on YouTube, but they are, without exception, pointless crap!
I was thinking exactly the same thing! They need to send one to me so I can do a proper video review
13.
Demeter... similarities?
Just what I was thinking.
14. The TF is a terrific bass. I had two, a fretted and fretless, and only sold them because I wanted to go back to 5s.
15. These are terrific heads indeed. Crystal clear, hi-fi tone, superb build quality. I had one and loved it to bits.
16. Just a month old, these GB707 tuners have been replaced by the Res O Lite versions on my Franz. They are in mint condition. Colour is a solid black. They look like this: £40 posted gets them to your door.
17. Just fitted Gotoh Resolites tuners and shaved a quarter of a pound off the total weight of the bass. It's now a very lovely 8lb 6oz, or 3.8kg in new money
18.
Yes to both! That particular section is so flexible, I wish they had a couple of slots for it as I'd set one as a clean octaver and one as a fuzzy filter, and not have to change the settings live. The tracking on the octaver is terrific. Cheers Rick
Excellent, thanks Rick
