Popped these on my bass and took them straight off again, as I am too wedded to heavy gauge nylon flats to change - an expensive experiment to confirm what I already knew! They are cut for a 4 over 1 headstock. The La Bella site says: La Bella Strings is taking a new approach to flat wound bass strings. The result is the Low Tension Flexible Flats series. Using the same techniques that have made the Deep Talkin’ Bass strings the best-selling flat wounds on the market, La Bella has adjusted the construction to create a lighter and more flexible alternative to the classic heavier flats. The Low Tension Flexible Flats deliver the same classic sound but without a floppy-string effect associated with other light tension flat wound strings. These hand-wound and hand-polished strings are equipped with round cores for flexibility and narrower ribbon wire to achieve that unrivalled smooth feeling uniquely characteristic to La Bella Strings. 5-String, .042, .056, .070, .100, .118 Total Tension: 163.2lbs (74.03kg) £48 new, I am looking for £35 posted.

Hello all As many of you know, I love high quality leather straps, and I hoped these would be "the one" for me, but I have decided I prefer straps with no metal parts so up they go for sale. These are Heistercamp straps, hand made in Devon. They are superb quality and the leather really is super soft. They are the "Leigh Tor" model, custom finished to an 8cm width, in light havana leather with blue suede lining and ochre stitching. They have antique finish brass buckles and the strap holes are punched for straplocks. They even come with their own bags! They are adjustable from 44-50" Apart from the marks where they've had straplocks fitted, they are in perfect condition. Retailing for £178 the two, these were hand made for me in February, and I will take £[s]70[/s] 60 each, or £[s]140[/s] 120 for the two, posted second class recorded. Cheers Gareth Edited: 25/5 for price drop

Thanks for all the replies chaps. Yes, something that's just a power amp is what I'm thinking, so the Demeter is just right, albeit pricey!

Hi folks What's out there at the moment like the SWR Amplite of a few years back? Small footprint power amp but with decent wattage. Any advice welcome.
I think it's 18mm from memory Gareth... I know it's not 19mm as I found the spacing ever-so-slightly too narrow for my preference (which is usually 19mm!). I'd be surprised if it was 17mm.
Thanks Ian. It certainly feels like 18mm... I was just going by the Hipshot specs on the website. -

I need to clear some space for a new ACG Krell I have incoming, so I am putting this lovely Recurve up for sale. It's from the now discontinued "Graft" configuration bass, which was Alan's more cost-effective range and has now replaced by the "Standard", but it's beautifully put together, light weight, and sounds great. Link to the bass on the ACG site is here, but it's basically:

alder body with a mahogany top
male 3pc 33" scale neck
rosewood board
2x ACG FB pickups
Volume/Tone/4 way Rotary switch (neck, neck+bridge series, neck+ bridge parallel, bridge).
Dunlop straplocks
Weight is about 8.5lbs and balance is good. Being a 33" scale it's a breeze to play. There are a couple of little bumps on it, but overall it's very clean. It will comes with a basic gig bag. Price is £550 shipped. Thanks for looking

SOLD- ACG Recurve S Type Singlecut Unlined Fretless 5
franzbassist posted a topic in Basses For Sale
I need to clear some space for a new ACG I have incoming, so I am putting this lovely singlecut Recurve up for sale. I bought this bass from GBBL last summer. It's served me very well in the time I've had it. It's a "Standard" configuration bass, so no fancy top or filter preamp, but it's beautifully put together, light weight, and sounds great. Link to the bass on the ACG site is here, but it's basically:

tinted white limba body
ash/bubinga 34" scale neck
ebony board
2x ACG FB humbuckers
ACG/East Custom P-Retro - stack 1 = volume, passive tone, and push/pull 'bright' function whereas stack 2 = dual boost control (turn CW for mid boost and ACW for bass & treble boost) and a push/pull 'deep' boost.
4 way Rotary switch (neck, neck+bridge series, neck+ bridge parallel, bridge).
Active/Passive Switch
Dunlop buttons (but not the part that attaches to the strap)
Weight is 8.5lbs and balance is good. There's a bit of a short fundamental around the 5th fret on the G string, not a dead spot as such, but other than that it sings and is in immaculate condition. It's currently wearing La Bella white nylons, which suit the bass well. Here's a video. It's a quick and simple job, the playing is sloppy and I didn't have the mic gain set right so there's some distortion in places, but hopefully it'll help folk see what the bass can do https://www.youtube.com/watch?kv=Ql5dOCNuuf0 Price is £750 shipped, so a 40% saving on new! Thanks for looking -
Definitely go. The shop is well stocked with lots of lovely stuff and the lads are super friendly.

How about the EWS BMC? I know Bass Direct have this and the newer version of the same.
Just bought a white one and looking at a set of white tapewounds. They start at .50 which would normally be too heavy for me but I'm told that the white nylon tapewounds feel lighter - how true is this??
Not looking to derail the thread, but just to confirm La Bella white nylons are available in a .45 gauge, although to be honest I'd stick with the .50s as the tension is nice and low anyway. Great basses these, and the price is good too.
