1. Nice! Good timing too, as apparently the SE model is being discontinued in favour of a US-made version!
2. I'm interested. How thick is the padding? Can you direct me to an image of the specific model online?
3.
Was it you that had the sandberg thinline? I've always liked the look of those...
Yes indeed it was. Lovely bass in every way.
4.
Here's a clip from my gig last night of my tweeterless S212. I get enough highs off it for my needs, but YMMV.
It really is all about the bass
5. Interesting observation. My main bass had a slight dead spot at the 7th fret on the G string. No biggie, but noticeable reduction in sustain compared with every other note. Then last night I noticed that the neck bolts were slightly loose, so I tightened them up, and the dead spot has now moved to the 5th fret! I can only assume that the tighter join has shifted the point at which the resonant frequency is cancelled out.
6. I sold a valve to Rich. His communications were excellent throughout and I would be very happy to deal with him again.
7. I sold a set of strings to Nige. A straightforward transaction with good comms. I'd happily deal with him again
8. I'd say yes, having owned a few, but it's only marginally louder than a solid body.
9. If you aren't used to setting up a fretless, then as you suggest is a logical place to start. That said, many fretless players prefer a neck with very little relief, and a lower action too. Nut height is also really important on a fretless - you can take the slots way down on a fretless. Gary Willis' website is a good place to start.
10. My old head IIRC. Terrific piece of kit, valve preamp, compressor and EQ. Lovely. Half tempted
11.
Yeah, had the same via Facebook too. No response.
Tommy used to be fantastic at responding to email and via social media. Perhaps he's the victim of his own success and is now too busy making cabs to keep up with demand?!
12.
I use two of them with a TH500, no tweeters here and ... I've not wanted for tweeters once.
Same here.
13. The more time I spend on this bass, the more convinced I am it's the best playing fretless I have ever had, which given the number I've owned is quite the compliment!
14. If it's from a shop it's been on the floor for a long time, as that serial number dates the bass to 2002/03! If you are unhappy, as it's from a shop I'd suggest you return it in accordance with your statutory rights as a consumer.
15.
And Greg Smith, who played bass on the 1995 Rainbow album "Stranger in us all".
That album passed me by
16. Neil Murray was in Whitesnake but not Rainbow. Rainbow's bassists were Craig Gruber, Jimmy Bain, Bob Daisley and Roger Glover, but not all at the same time
17. Superb amps, crystal clear tones but with wonderful heft to every note. Keen price too.
18.
looks like I've gone and got myself an ACG fretless beauty...... I'll let you know when the deal is sealed!!!
Good move man!
19.
Shine on you crazy diamond goes on for a while. Good though.
I was obviously checking the vocal entry time while you were posting!
20. Floyd's "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" vocal comes in at 8:44
