1. I'd take four, possibly six, plugs, and some short lengths of cable if you're willing to split?
2.
Me too!! On the current short list (based on availability and price) are an Ashdown JJB 500 and a Fender 800 Pro. Both amps are unfamiliar to me, but I used Trace Elliot for years, so the graphic on the Ashdown had me all nostalgic! The Fender offers more power and probably a cleaner sound...
Don't know about the 800 Pro, but I had a JJB500 for a while and it provides a very clean tone.
3. Yes, the Hipshots are much better. They are not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for.
4. What's the difference between fuzz, distortion and overdrive? If I was looking for something akin to very light valve breakup, which would I get?
5. Not sure this helps, but the manual says: For countries using 220V, 230V, and 240V AC mains, select the 230V switch position on the Voltage Selector switch. There is no externally accessible AC mains (line) fuse, the internal fuse is integral to the SMPS power supply and is not user serviceable. This fuse will not fail except under very unlikely fault conditions to the SMPS, and if this occurs a qualified service technician is required to correct the problem.
6.
There is a strange sound on that recording. It sounds like an artefact of some kind and seems to follow each note. The basic tone of the amp sounds cleanish but it is hard to be objective with the after note noise.
I think that's the Zoom recorder vibrating on its tripod stand, it's definitely not the amp or the cab.
7. I have no GAS at the moment
8. Just looking around the "in stock" pages on the Status website and found this!
9.
That looks the business. Is it of a similar ilk to the Mesa Prodigy?
Not really, as it has a digital power section.
10. I would recommend the Demeter without reservation. It is without doubt the best amp I have ever owned.
11. Try the Gator website. They do loads of padded bags.
12. You're all just jealous, jealous I tell ya!
13. Bring the thunder I have yet to use both cabs together, but figured I'd post a "stack" shot anyway.
14. How about the EMG GZR?
15. Ashdown told me a couple of years ago that there was no difference between the MK and JJ versions apart from the case colour...
16. I have the Dual Bass Station by Providence, and I find it to be indispensable. Two inputs: I switch between electric and upright constantly at each gig Individual master volumes: set the basses at the same volume at the start of the gig 3 band eq with sweepable mids: leave the amp flat and eq each bass via the pedal tuner and mute: silent tuning If I was playing one bass at a gig I wouldn't bother with it, unless I wanted to set up two different core tones (e.g slap and fingerstyle), but for two basses it's the biz!
17. Thanks for the comments guys, I'm tempted to go GZR in the fretted and Aguilar in the fretless at the mo
18. Hi folks Does anyone have experience of both of these pickups? I like both from what I can hear in Youtube reviews, but I'd like a BC opinion of both if possible. I ask as my American Specials have the "American Standard Alnico Split Single-Coil" in them, which is a decent enough pickup, but I find it a touch indistinct at times. Happy to consider other pickups as well, but I want something that sounds "traditional" and had really good separation and balance between the strings. Thanks Gareth
19. I think the first year of use was 1966 and they were done for the most part by 1968. That said, I had a '71 P which had them fitted.
20. I sold a gig bag to Etienne. It was a terrific transaction with prompt email communication and immediate payment. A pleasure to deal with
21.
A killer bass for the money even when stock. B-)
Tidy
22.
Is this the one made from brass? If so is that just the saddles? How much is the postage per chance?
The hipshot site says it's made of brass, so I assume that means the base plate and saddles. Buyers contribution to postage would be £3. Thanks
23. I used my LB30 into Ashdown Classic Neo 2x10 and 1x15s in a Jam tribute band for a while and it was more than capable.
