Micro Pog, guitar distortion - send the high octave to the Laney. Will sound great!

Just? There is no just when it comes to supporting others.

@Dood Marshall IBS - now there's an apt name if ever I saw one 😯

What's the best cheap (sub £40 new) split P pickup?
Mykesbass replied to neepheid's topic in General Discussion
Entwistle should be on your list for consideration. -
Guitar Amplifier manufacturer in Crayford. Any ideas?
Mykesbass replied to bass_dinger's topic in General Discussion
First thoughts were it would have been linked to Vox. A quick search revealed they did use a Crayford cabinet maker, PA Glock, who also made furniture. Does that ring any bells? -

Lovely looking bass. Congrats on putting the effort in to get what you wanted. -
You weren't on Gary's last UK tour were you?

What Lozz said, plus string spacing and scale length (which you have no control over).

Great CV, but Ray Charles - that's a bit special in my book. Just read the original thread that got you on here, and it is astonishing that there is so little about you out there on the internet. Extra confusing with your US namesake! Anyhow, welcome to BC.

The best Formal, and Informal, musical lesson of your life?
Mykesbass replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
Not at all! What this exchange did for me was to unlock for me what I really love about music. Swing, groove, arrangement and attitude. And it stopped me being too sniffly about more popular styles. -

No disrespect to the musicians who have exceptional technique, or to those that love 'complicated music', but my real ear opener was when I was working as a teenager in a record shop. At the time I was learning guitar, and getting into the likes of Alan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin. I was playing an Al DiMeola album in the shop when one of the bosses said 'this is good and very clever, but it doesn't swing'. He then put some Count Basie on. I genuinely think that moment transformed the way I thought about music. -
Just sold a Cort headless bass to Chris. Super easy transaction with great communication throughout. Thrilled that Parcelforce even got the bass there a day early!

well, iv never seen one of these before, ovation hard body bass

Ovation. I think @Happy Jack owns one. Always had gas but not the money for one, and a six stringer (Breadwinner I think). -
Taken up doing this having watched the latest Michael Moseley series. You only need to do 30 seconds at the end of a normal temperature shower.

Word of warning on Crafter - yes they are great guitars. I used to stock them when I had a shop. But they are (or at least were) shipped with high action. The distributor and reps were aware of this and it was done by choice on the basis that it was quite easy to reduce the bridge height, but not so easy to raise it. If the shop doesn't do basic setup work then you'll need to find someone to tweak it for you.

Hoping for a repeat (Sky Arts) at a slightly earlier hour (having to get up too early for these midnight finishes...) but this looks like a great watch. Winston Reid's voice sounds magnificent!

There's a name on the body, but can't work it out. -
Think of the repertoire - Only Yew, Yew Win Again, I Only Have Eyes For Yew ...

Had a great experience selling to @helenb who joined the site just three hours before asking to buy the bass I was advertising. Great communication by phone, and arranged to come and collect and pay cash. Sell with confidence if Helen comes buying again!

Sorry, all this nostalgic chat about South London, and I forgot to say welcome @TheMoose

Haha, no, would have been 19/20, so five or so years into my drinking journey 😏

Funny to think I may have seen you all those years prior to actually meeting you!

What was the pub at the bottom of Dog Kennel Hill that I would have seen Steve Waller playing in? Cherry Tree?

I remember when there were loads of squats on Camberwell Grove, but it was still posh! Didn't Joe Jackson live there when he was at his height of fame?
