  1. So true. Time to revive your wonderful thread but I can't remember what it was titled?
  2. That has to be the worst product staging I've seen for a long time
  3. Just make sure you are happy with the neck size and string spacing on the SR. After that Aria it could seem tiny.
  4. Josh Groban came across much like James Blunt when he appeared on Buzcocks. Very self-deprecating.
  5. Oh, and it was the Crusaders backing him on those early recordings.
  6. I had the honour of releasing a compilation of his early work for a record company I worked for many years back, and got to meet him at the launch of the London concert celebrating the 1st anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release. The launch was held in South Africa House on Trafalgar Square, for years the target of anti apartheid protest. When the launch came to an end, Masekela along with Miriam Makeba got to his feet, and they performed an impromptu Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika. It was the most moving musical experience of my life.
  7. Just bought a Soul Food from John - incredible service and in great condition. Buy with confidence from this great seller.
  8. Funny, I had the GB75, great bass, but never tried to get the MM sound from it. It's a great tone, but was never what I was looking for.
  9. Think I prefer 2 overall, but 1 may be a little more articulate soloed.
  10. Luthier. Builds and repairs, plus a little spares business may work.
  11. Been there, done that. Good luck... Are you aware of the onerous demands that brands put on shops in the way of dealerships? That, and the margins that the big boys work on are probably the two biggest problems. Happy to talk by PM if you want more info.
  12. Define cheap. First bass £300+ not exactly Harley Benton or Sx territory. Sorry if they come up later, couldn't watch any more.
  13. Fergal Sharkey had a howler once, and of course there's always the classic John Peel mandolin solo on Maggie May.
  14. Liking that sort of binding, don't know how to correctly describe it, the effect most noticeable on the top horn. Also, that's a gorgeous fretboard. Liking fantastic.
  15. Can't you go for the old style single P pickup? Would look great on that body shape.
  16. Sampling can be incredibly creative and requires lots of musicality and talent to get it right. It also exposes some great musicians who could, otherwise get overlooked. Two great examples, Camille Yarborough, Take Yo Praise (Fatboy Slim, Praise You) and Dave Peacock, yes Chas & Dave, on Eminem's Track, title of which currently escapes me.
  17. Wow, you can make dead teenagers hate you? I'm impressed
  18. Beat me to it! Shame to hide it away! Completely understand though.
  19. My Shuker - built for me in 2012, and my only bass, apart from a self build P that never sees the light of day. Love it to bits!! http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/p15.jpg
  20. @BassTractor Good work Bert, not the easiest of things to do.
  21. Well deserved Alan. Always admired your work from afar. Look forward to seeing one "in the flesh" one day.
