1. When you get a bigger dressing room than the puppets.
2.
That said, if you don't believe in tonewood then why not go for ebonol and a plastic-foam, lightweight body. [/gripe]
Because ebonol makes a horrid clacky sound when the strings touch it (on a fretless) - yuck. I would seriously love to take part in a scientifically controlled tonewood blind test.
3.
I'm sure they have paid someone to do some SEO on their videos. I wouldn't blame them for everything.
This. I'd imagine (without checking adwords key word tools) that all things bass related makes for a very small, very crowded pond (ok, I know, bass aren't pond fish), so the SEO has to look for different angles (aargh, another fish pun)to get these videos up the rankings.
4. Newtone Strings. British and custom service. Can't post links on my vintage phone - newtonestrings.com
5.
Does this bother you? If so I would ask for an actual new bass. As fair enough old stock etc but 2012 is a bit too much imo. I mean it could also effect its value if you chose to sell it on also.
I wouldn't have thought the OP would have any grounds to do this (even if he did want to). After all it isn't as if a Fender has a Best Before date, and if it did it would be 1965
6. Been long proven that Disco doesn't suck http://basschat.co.uk/topic/281682-disco-faves/page__st__150__p__3141013__hl__disco__fromsearch__1#entry3141013 Will have a listen - always appreciate your stuff, and like a lot of it too!
7. Now get posting some of that fabulous music you choose!
8. I've been toying with the idea for a Jazz to go with my fretless P, but it will need modding as I've fallen in love with Nordstrand Big Singles pickups.
9. Seen some very cool footage of him recording some great keyboard lines with John Mayall whilst reading a book!!
10. Love the idea of having a piece of mahogany in the shed for 30 years! Great build.
11. My wife is very happy for me to go off gigging and has no interest in sitting in a pub not really knowing anyone, listening to music she really doesn't like. Funny though, I'd love to get into a band that plays the sort of thing she likes, and I'm always on the lookout for a punky folky Levellers type thing, but to no avail!
12.
I'll ask my doctor if I can get gigs on prescription!
13.
Oh, I've done that. Sire shuffle their feet and change the subject "Oh, look there's a vole".
That's poor. I thought companies like this were getting better with customer service now they know how easy it is to get a bad reputation through customer reviews.
14. Wouldn't the first Jazz basses have come with flats as standard? Jazz Bass 1960, roundwounds 1966 from the quickest bit of Googling.
15. Having got to this stage I'd be tempted to go direct to the manufacturer. This is a design fault, and if they value customer service I'd imagine they would want to do something about it.
16.
yeah so long as it isn't huge I'd look after it in North Birmingham B36
Tiny by valve amp standards. Just PM'd you Harry.
If he can drop it off in Tamworth I could look after it for you as long as it isn't a spinal tap style multi stack monster.
Many thanks for the offer T-Bay, but looks like we have a bit of a plan coming together.
17.
Ah it's the day before the intra-city civil war we are OK
Good job you said that - the match has been put back a day! It will be the 23rd then!! Best let Pow_22 know!!
18.
yeah so long as it isn't huge I'd look after it in North Birmingham B36
Now that would be quite funny...amp is coming to Birmingham on 22 April - how well do you know your fixture list?!! 😲
19. [s]Looking for some help in getting a valve head from Bolton to somewhere a bit closer to Brighton! It's been done before on here, can we do it again? I need to go to Oxfordshire sometime in the near future, so that could be a handy alternative stopping point. Bit of fuel or beer money and my eternal gratitude on offer in return for any help. Cheers, Mike.[/s] Looks like Paul (POW_22) can now get this down to Birmingham in the next couple of weeks. I may be able to get there to meet him, but also looking for a back-up option for someone local to meet him and babysit the amp for me if I can't get there on the same day. Thanks in advance, Mike
20. Shocking these 'so called' artists having the temerity to record songs that have been written for them by others. Just as bad as Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin and all those other lightweights who weren't the Beatles 😉
21. Would make for an interesting episode of TOTP!
22. Early Sunday Night gig in a new to us venue. Had been postponed a couple of times, then the lady who booked us told us she was ill and not at the pub so contact the pub direct. Nearly lost the gig as the landlady was considering dropping the Sunday evening sessions. Instead she put the time back from 5 to 7 which suited us. Got there at 6 to set up, only a small handful of people at the bar. All talking about music - Shirley Bassey, Tony Bennett and even Joe Longthorne. The jukebox was playing some dreadful stuff, including Max Bygraves! We were there to play some pretty lively blues based stuff, so I was a bit worried. Made a quick change to the set list and started off with a couple of more mellow numbers. People were up and dancing, and out of nowhere the place had filled up. Ended up being our best gig to date! Shame it was our guitarist's last, as he has moved away, but what a night to end on! Landlady was dancing behind the bar, landlord loved us, paid straight away, didn't even have to ask, and booked back for later in the year. Landlady also said it was lovely having a band that knew what they were doing. Makes me wonder what others get up to?
23.
anything by Mark D Phillips.
Along with Sue Ryder and Harley Benton 😃
24. Only when one of the current great luthiers retire - Fodera, RItter etc.
