1.
Mike Post I believe. Love the song. Work it out by ear.
There are some people that can't do this at all, and, in my case, people who just can't get their ears around certain parts. Mine was Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make Yo Love Me - just couldn't hear the intervals properly. I got the same response, which frankly was as much use as a one legged man in an ar5e kicking contest!
 2.
Speaking of irony, I was always astounded at the number of times we got asked for Easy by th e Commodores as a first dance considering the lyrics are (paraphrase) "I've grown to hate your guts and I can't stand you. Still, one more shag and by the time you wake up tomorrow I'll have cleared the house out and you'll never see me again, you witch."
Do it in a medley with Band of Gold and Young Hearts Run Free then!!
 3. American Special "New Colours - Butterscotch Blonde"
 4.
I remember a bloke asking us if we could do any Lionel Ritchie after hearing an hour of indie and punk rock.
Could have done Faith N More's version of Easy.
 5.
My internet is a bit slow !@@
Priceless!!
 6.
Being rated side by side with The Bass Whisperer himself! That's really cool
But there's a lot of truth in that comparison - you both demonstrate the gear comprehensively, not yourselves. Curious as to what the complaints are about...
 7. Willie Dixon: http://modlock.co.uk/willie-dixon-giant-of-modern-music-a-blues-loving-bass-players-appreciation/
 8.
Damn! Just when I've invested in a full Maytag backline!
Maytag? I thought it was another brand as I always wondered which came first, the chicken or the Smeg...
 9.
I am familiar with that one actually. Not on vimeo either? I admit I didn't check.
Not available on this side of the pond I'm afraid
 10.
Just posting to say that I have finally given up bass playing. So it's over to you youngsters - please remember that bass is a rhythm instrument which should only have 4 (FOUR) strings and should be played accordingly on the bottom 9 (NINE) frets only Best wishes to the lot of you! Jazzneck.
Nine frets??? No wonder you're giving up, you've worn yourself out with all those acrobatics Good luck with the fingerpicking and the health in general Jazzneck, and hey, stick around - there's always the Guitarchat bit at the bottom, could do with some more input! All the best, Mike
 11.
Myke, guessing that you'll find this version moving in a rather different way... was in the studio audience when this was recorded. Still leaves me with a huge grin today!
More than just a touch of Morcambe & Wise in there! (never a bad thing btw )
 12.
I'm pickin up what you're laying down, but this one may trump even that fine fine tune https://www.youtube....h?v=I6AgpzsnHo8
Sadly the one I'd love to post isn't available - Bonnie's tribute to BB King at the Grammy Awards, where she wiped the floor with Chris Stapleton and Gary Clark on a version of The Thrill Has Gone - that was a very special performance.
 13.
Bonnie Raitt. "I Can't Make You Love Me".
Fabulous of course but... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhe3vb0z7mY
 14.
Does this count as a recording?
Great aren't they? How they can put in such an intimate performance in that setting! And as for the way the two drummers work together...
 15. This version of California Dreaming - the original is great, but always sounded sunny and happy, hiding the true melancholy of the lyrics. Here, Phillips age and fragility (he died before the album could be released) really shows through. Once those Mexican BV's kick in I'm gone! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDcaydHVliM
 16. See that Galway Girl and Maggie May both get mentions - definitely something punters like about "that funny little banjo thingy". In my old band it was Copperhead Rd that always got the best reaction. Well, that and "the fanny song"... (The Weight).
 17.
Quite possibly, but it would be nice that if that was the case, they informed individual customers of that.
Yep. They were hit and miss with supply and customer service 10 or so years ago when I was a MM dealer.
 18.
The funniest bit was that we were all doing exactly the same thing -- stood with arms folded, glaring at the stage with a facial expression that said, "Go on then, you whippersnappers. The kids reckon you're great, so impress ME. I saw Nirvana, y'know. Give it your best."
I had the misfortune to be in this same line at a Black Veiled Brides gig. Unfortunately that's where the similarity ends - they were dreadful
 19.
OK - Understood and thank you for that. It's just there has been a delay with the above bass and the reason given was the CITES Regs in respect of Rosewood of which there doesn't appear to be any on this bass. The fingerboard is Ebony. The only other wood type that isn't specifically mentioned is that of the body, for which it says "select hardwood", which I can't imagine would be Rosewood.
I'd imagine it is more that the ruling has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works at MusicMan. Lots more paperwork to clear all the rosewood boards on other basses that are possibly ahead of yours on the production schedule.
 20.
I think one of the early Genesis members packed it in and bought a lemon grove in Spain and wrote a book about it. Nick Simper, first bassist with Deep Purple became a male nurse I think. But, Brian Cox is certainly making a shed load more money talking about stars than trying to be one in the music industry.
Chris Stewart. Quite entertaining books.
 21. I've just been looking up Danny Bowens, creator of the amazing bassline on The Bottle. Yes, he still runs a band but his Linkedin profile has him down as a tennis coach.
 22.
Im 41 and i take music very seriously.
And you share some great stuff. But don't take it too seriously - remember the clown whores guy on here a couple of years ago? That's what happens when you do!!
 23.
My vote would probably go to Sandi Thom's "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in my Hair)".
^This. A punk rocker with flowers in their hair would probably get their head kicked in! Others for me - Owen Paul, Waste of Time; Adrian Gurvitz, Gonna Write a Classic, and The Beatles, Yellow Submarine.
 24.
Wild stuff! Reminds me of the old vinyl covered Höfners (Hohners? Hagströms?) but, well, a tad more elegant. I don't want to get into the whole "effect of finish on tone" debate, but wouldn't upholstery actually let the wood "breathe" more than a thick poly coating a la 70's Fenders? Another bonus is that it's interchangeable!
Just add a zip...
 25.
So this will make me sound like Geddy Lee, right?
Only when plugged in to the chicken rotisserie.
