  1. I do hope this is tongue in cheek. Online is terrible for nuance 🤨
  2. Well that was a nasty shock for a moment (although it might have explained Bowie's rather unpleasant dabblings as the Thin White Duke). Fortunately, a slightly deeper dive into Wikipedia shows that Fairbrass appeared playing bass on the video of Blue Jean, but wasn't on the record. So just an ever so slightly spurious claim on his own page.
  3. Expensive doesn't necessarily equate to good taste.
  4. Cm. When it hits the G you can hear it hasn't resolved, whereas when it hits both Cm or Eb in that chord chart it does resolve.
  5. I agree - it did seem a bit pointless with the gap between the two.
  6. Don't know if this video will be of any use, but looks like Sims Custom Shop didn't attempt to cover the entire body of this Strat:
  7. Nice to see the Chronicle liked it. Story and review came up on my Google news feed this morning. Congratulations.
  8. Yes, didn't see it on here, but commented on FB. I'm not in the market but was absolutely bowled over by the looks. I hope someone snatches it up soon for you.
  9. I deliberately avoid the BC for sale section 😎
  10. One of these came up on Facebook, and I must say it is the first bass I have seen in a long time that made me go WOW! Anyone own/owned one? Do they sound/play anywhere near as amazing as they look?
  11. Sam Fender was great on the Lindisfarne documentary not so long ago. Pretty sure @wateroftyne appeared on that one too.
  12. Love Alexei. Also love Jazz 🤨
  13. And once it's been worked out we can start on RnB.
  14. This. Plus, back in the day, companies like Granada and the BBC had large teams of technicians. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a piano tuner on the payroll.
  15. You were ahead of your time! Oh well, Goth mandocello bands will be all the rage in 2029! Still got the Case Hardin CD.
  16. Oh wow, what an experience! Sorry, I missed it being only two days old 😀 There are a couple of other bits on YouTube - one is a longer bit of performance, the other is the train journey. Chorlton-cum-Hardy - now that's a name for a Blues town if ever there was one!
  17. Been fascinated by this for years, partly due to the fact that it was two days after I was born, but mainly as it is such a wonderfully 'odd' concept. There is also a longer film available on YouTube for those who may be interested.
  18. ...which is in the continent of North America. I think for a concept as broad as Americana many Canadian acts would fit in, as do some influences from Mexico.
  19. Isn't it all about music influenced by 'roots' styles - Bluegrass, Zydeco, Cajun, Blues? From memory, when I was working in the record business, there was an Alt Country movement - Steve Earle, Cowboy Junkies etc. a kind of antidote to the other development of the time, New Country. Alt Country then merged with other sub genres, a couple of big acts (Springsteen) went back to a more traditional sound, and a new marketing tool was born.
  20. The man behind Wish basses! What a find @kodiakblair
  21. Yes, it has been a long, slow burn, from the early days of Alt Country.
  22. Oh my! Stunning.
  23. 15 posts in and nobody has made the Dam Busters joke. We're slipping.
