Try and get to see some of the local bands playing actual Balkan music. It will scare the pants off you! I got to jam with a band from Croatia a couple of years back. Closest thing I could think of was the yddish dance music I grew up with in north west London in the fifties. Great stuff but for yer average rock and roller it was like falling into a vat of boiling pea soup! Big fun though.....
Saw Davy Graham in a tiny folk club playing loads of Baltic style music (he spent a lot of time working with musicians over there). Some crazy time signatures and forms! Hope you catch some out there.

Rehearsal room: "Can you lock up when you leave, please?"
Mykesbass replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
Aside from the trust issue, there is an implied business agreement here which, for me, goes something like: We pay you money. In return, you allow us to use your premises and equipment, you look after us while we're there and you lock up your own premises when we leave.
I don't see why the second part of this should be part of the transaction. Owner is trying to keep your costs down. If you want to be looked after offer some more money and ask for someone to be there. I've used a place like this, leaving the key under a brick! Mad, yes, but not a problem. -
At that point, guitar guitar bass drum-machine vox. Originals, and a few covers which weren't like their originals at all. When we started recording stuff I had a serious rethink; it just didn't sit well with what we were doing. Why nobody else said that to me I don't know.
Interesting especially with two guitars you found that.
I stopped using a five because I tended to play low notes too much. If I got another it would probably be tuned E-C.
??? Sorry, genuinely baffled by this. What line-up do you play with?
I thin k you are probably correct on this, we do accept that age is against us and to be fair this project was based around recording the best music we could
Did you see the recent BBC 4 show - Britain's Best Unsigned Band/ There was a band on there that had been playing together for years, perfecting their own brand of Prog rock. The show was the first time the had ever performed on stage, so yes, sometimes the reward for all this effort may well be your own, personal enjoyment.
Not strictly disco, but groovy all the same!
Not strictly disco? Good enough for me - great call

They use Nordstrand Big Singles in some of the prestige models which sound amazing. Not sure if they would be a direct fit for this model though.

Different model but I had a GB75. Excellent build quality but had far too complex electronics for my liking (active tone, blend & selector switch, mid boost switch, push pull coil tap - I only wanted to play the blues )
I always found it was better to say "we are" rather than "what we want" - I never got why more ads don't do this. An ad looking for 20-25yr olds could miss out on a perfect 28yr old. But yes, I immediately switch off when I read really specific criteria, even if I happen to meet it. And no band is ever going to dictate to me what shoes I wear!
There have been plenty of similar threads on here, with many arguing, correctly IMO, that image can be very important. I think this response answers that perfectly.

Any of you cover/pub bands run with two drummers ?
Mykesbass replied to Les's topic in General Discussion
Of course, forgetting James Brown - I know, he didn't play pubs, but he did do the Chichester Beer Festival in the early 2000s! -
This is one of my, so far, unfulfilled dreams. I'd love to play with 2 drummers. The Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Allman Brothers Band and the Doobie Brothers all sound great with 2 drummers so it can be done.
This. TTB sound incredible live with two drummers. Not quite the Dog & Duck though!! -

Sounds like you need to visit Grangur's thread pinned to the top of Repairs and Technical to see if a local BC member can give you some face to face advice.

Get a well known ebay "luthier" to turn it into a 4 string...
Great version. I am hoping the Beeb release this concert on DVD.
I'd imagine the rights clearance costs wouldn't be feasible against any projected sales, which is ever so sad
Ha ha! You might wanna ask Jon about that, he's never been so busy I reckon! Have you seen the amount of orders he's produced recently single-handedly? - and every instrument is absolutely stunning! I'd say that Shuker was also THE big rage right back at the dawn of time, which we know was called 'Bassworld v.1' Still going strong!
Stop it now, I don't wan't to appear to be fashionable
What did I miss, had anyone got an iplayer link?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07pqrkw/bbc-proms-2016-quincy-jones-prom Deeelicious...(sorry, getting quite carried away)!

8 minutes in (including the introduction) and already it is blooming amazing!! Tight, nicely mixed, yes, rhythm section working brilliantly with the orchestra!

That Victor Wooten bloke, he's rubbish, he is. There, I said it!
Why? He's not for you so that's that.
True, but sometimes a little guidance can help you find things that you could miss/overlook on your own. I got into Dylan this way. -
Waiting for it on i-player so I can listen in peace on headphones. Looking forward to it.

Found it - with the added bonus of some beautiful double bass from Ray Brown - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbrrtAsB01Q

Oh go on then, seeing as we've had both Springsteen and Dylan covers, here's Springsteen covering Dylan - Heartbreaking that this was written the year I was born, recorded here in the 80s and still just as relevant today, but stunning song all the same: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3onnJuBS18

Wannabe here - wannabe gigging twice a week and for better money. Actively working on it for next year.
