1. Well it's got a nice bridge (with the right spacing) thanks Miles'tone and I've had a couple of good conversations with the guy who will do all the heavy woodwork - just need the parts P Bass to sell to fund the next bit
2. I know I have been surprised how difficult I have found pushing a couple of songs up one - A to Bb to accommodate a sax player, but we've only run through them a couple of times. Do you find you do a lot of the songs through muscle memory? I'm sure I do which is part of the problem.
3.
Howdy fellas, I'm working on this very thing at the moment - full colour printed acoustically transparent mesh that's easily fixed to the cab grille & also removable, along with standing slightly proud of the grille to ensure no unsightly bulges where the makers badge is As Andy kindly says I'm just working on final samples & am doing the house PA at a festival next weekend. Once I ensure they're up to scratch they'll be up on www.gig.ink I'm behind SCRATCH-IT! by the way, generating bespoke & custom scratchplates, but am expanding the range to offer these alongside the plates. Apols for blatant sales pitch. Cheers Tim Oh, im on my mobile at the mo but will post a pic tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about
Looks like a great idea Tim - good luck with it. I will be checking those grille covers out when they are up.
4. Another happy customer - thanks Simon, bridge safely received today. Let the build commence (oh wait, I need a neck and body now...)
5. Was digging (I guess that's an appropriate term) Phil Lesh's tie-dye speaker covers - will try and find the clip.
6.
A quote often seen on basses for sale adverts. Why does it make a difference?
Similar to some on here feeling that any instrument that has been displayed for any amount of time in a music shop is ex-demo.
7. Great build. Nice shape headstock too - always amazes me how many brands seem to fail in this department!!
8.
Rick Danko and Levon Helm were pretty tidy.
Big plus 1 to this!!
9. Thanks SICbass, sorry, no plans for a German trip at the moment!
10. 1999 Crossroads gig - Nathan East.
11. I really enjoyed the orchestration, but thought the singers struggled (seemed under-rehearsed, and struggled to deal with the re-working of the songs). Yes, Marc Almond was a car crash, I think I even saw some horrified looks from the musicians trying to keep with his timing (or lack of). But overall, really glad this happened, and will watch again on iplayer.
12. I froze the video and although the quality was very poor there was a hint of Aria Pro to the headstock.
13. Another stunning job Andy - love watching your builds.
14. May be worth contacting Oli Foxen, think he is still active on here or try Facebook and search Ampstack
15.
https://instagram.com/p/BIPuBqqgZ0j/ Do we know why you'd do that?
Classy!
16. A beautiful Sunday afternoon style bump - perfect shade of green for a sunny afternoon
17.
Thanks! Thanks specifically for speaking up over the general 'white noise' of apathy here. Much appreciated.
Yes, wasn't one of Basschat's finer moments. The way I see it is that at 52 I've learnt more in the last 4 years than I did in the previous 30. Much of that has come through people sharing stuff on social media and forums. Sometimes just knowing that people know this sort of thing can be fascinating, even if you haven't got the time or aptitude to learn it yourself. It may be worth asking a moderator (possibly not Rich after his earlier contribution) to move this to the theory section.
18.
This guitar looks just like the day it was produced in 2002!
I don't remember a day in 2002 looking quite so purple...
19.
Charge extra for lots of extra work that's hard to see even in the photo... from 20 feet away it'll just be an ugly red splodge.
I was going to defend this guitar, saying for the right band and the right image...then I saw your post and had another look, and yes, although the idea might be fun in the right setting but the build (for a maker like ESP, and for the price) is hugely disappointing. The attempt to finish the tail as an inlay, to my eyes, is a complete failure.
20.
Now there's a hornets nest!
Basschat Bingo!!
