1. Here's the current line-up, nothing as nice looking as yours, but all around the £250 to £350 mark http://www.espguitars.co.jp/grassroots/
 2.
We started off as a "post punk" band, quickly descended into indie and alternative due to lack of recognisable material. I think the drummer is a hard rock fan, the guittard is a blues player who has little musical knowledge outside that genre (except that he doesn't like britpop).
I'm struggling to see how you got to where you are now from this. Did you form the band together? Are there just the three of you? I'd start with the market - what do the local pubs want - and then build a set list around this, avoiding anything that any of the members really can't stand. Forget genres, as has often been said, there are only two types of music...
 3.
Then I found this on the back of the bridge unit. Was wondering what ''Pat.P" stands for? But relieved to see Chushin - Made in Japan on it.
Quite simply, Patent Pending.
 4.
That looks beautiful. My inevitable questions are: Can you please weigh it accurately? What is the width of the neck at the nut? Ta.
Hi Paul, Nut is 40mm. 4.2 KG on the bathroom scales (sorry, can't be more accurate than that). Many thanks, Mike
 5.
There are no people who are 'household names' as bassists.
This. I think the nearest two that have been mentioned are Suzi Quatro, because it was so different, and her being small really made the bass obvious, and Mark King, as his bass playing was such a prominent part of the act. But yes, as above with Discreet's post, knock on 10 doors and ask what instrument these two played and I doubt too many would know. Just given me an idea for a pub quiz question, will try it the next time I do one, and see how many get it (and report back).
 6. Another mention for Bruce Thomas - some very, very tasty bass lines in those Attractions recordings.
 7. Tells you when to change strings - now that will be fun among us bass players! It is a great piece of kit, better than those Gibson self tuning guitars.
 8.
Klaus Voormann ...
Great call!
 9. Is there enough bass before the strings and horns for this obvious but iconic choice? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJV2pWFyfn4
 10.
Aaw, come on! This is Basschat - we can compare anything with anything else!!
11.
The really are different things. Comparing apples and oranges comes to mind.
More than that, as both bands changed so drastically over the years. You can't really compare vocally "Can't Explain" with "Won't Get Fooled Again" and likewise you can't do it with "Love Me Do" with "A Day in the Life"
 12. I've had great results from a Tascam DR07. Once you get positioning and levels right they're great - certainly good enough for rehearsals or pub demos.
 13.
Did you ever try the viper out? What were your thoughts? Did you buy it etc?
+1, but then the OP hasn't been on since 11th November so I doubt we'll ever know
 14. Some fabulous woods, and used really nicely. Also I love the headstock - both the shape and the lamination. Value for money on custom builds is really impossible to judge - if you love it, and keep it forever (as I am with my Shuker) then they are an easy 10/10. If however you ever want to sell one they aren't a patch on a bog standard Fender for holding their price. Pretty sure you're going to love this one for a long time!
 15.
And with an older style bride
Fully intact
 16.
I like Tom and Jerry. Does that count?

No. That's more like Stravinsky.
Stravinsky?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnz5uvfE210
 17.
ah man why are these always refins... Still on the look out for an all original
Same reason people used to rip out coving and fireplaces in Victorian houses - they thought new and shiny trumped discoloured and crazed! Hindsight eh!
 18. It takes a lot of hard work to make a Stagg worse that it originally was - hats off to the guy for succeeding in that respect!
 19. Have you checked what it sounds like out front (with a long lead or someone else playing)? What you hear on stage can be wildly different to what it sounds like in the audience.
 20. Some great P Bass playing in this earlier topic: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/272344-p-bass-in-contemporary-jazz/page__p__2906157__hl__jazz__fromsearch__1#entry2906157
 21. At that price I'd give another thumbs up for Sx, or alternatively, Revelation which are overseen by a guy called Alan Entwistle who designs the fabulous pickups that are on these basses.
