1. Can see some sense in that - if the original player was used to anchoring their thumb on say a Musicman pick-up then that could be the right place. Does look odd though!
2. Good to see that someone still makes really bad first instruments that today's generation can moan like mad about in 30 years time.
3.
A load of autographs, including Jim Marshall (somewhere).
There used to be a joke about unsigned copies of Jim Marshall's book being worth more as they were so rare!! That guy was amazing at trade shows - would draw a bigger crowd than any of the musos.
4. Live Aid tickets and t-shirt, a couple of proper BPI Certified gold discs and BB King's autograph.
5.
Cheers . I'm not one for jam nights . There's only so much blooze I can take mind you , if I play my records backwards I may get my car/ house / baby back . The dog might even recognise me
That's Country ya'll talkin' bout there! Seriously though, yes, you've had a torrid time of late so perhaps the change will do you good. Get over to the recording section - some great, very supportive folk over there - start a topic up with them for loads of great advice.
6.
and two drummers??? WTF!!
Guess it depends on the drummers - currently loving the work of Tedeschi Trucks Band and the way the two drummers work so brilliantly together (and they'r not too loud)!
7. Alice Cooper at Guildfest - held back all the hits for the encore and didn't believe stage management when they said power would go off at curfew. Finished the main set just on curfew so had to come back out in the dark to take a rather sheepish bow
8. I had tickets to see Weather Report at Hammersmith (with Jaco) and forgot all about it until I found the ticket the next morning, oops!!
9. Can't find the thread, but pretty sure Baschatter 51m0n has written chapter and verse on compression. Check his profile http://basschat.co.uk/user/1370-51m0n/ and you should be able to find it in his threads, if not, drop him a PM and he should be able to point you to the original link.
10. Could end up parting out at this rate - surely some love out there for this minty green loveliness?
11.
Mykesbass - "live recording" is something I do quite often, if requested. It's always preferable for me to go over the vocals separately so that there's no bleed at all from other instruments, but sometimes that's not what the customer wants. I do whatever it takes to get the best performance 'cos this is way more important than the sound of it IMO
Let me know when you open your south coast branch
12. Only thing that is wrong is the way these people manage to get their hands on the tickets in the first place. If it is a ticket the tout has bought of a punter who can no longer go then fine, but when tickets get hoovered up in seconds for a big show you have to wonder from where these guys are sourcing them.
13. OK, I'll stick my head above the parapet ready for a good pounding! For my band I'd love a studio that will do a live recording. What we have managed on just a tiny little Tascam in a rehearsal room is pretty close to what we need and would like but with just a little bit more control over the mixing, and, a decent vocal capture. Studios seem to want to offer an all or nothing approach - everyone isolated, overdubs etc, which we'd be hopeless at, and which needs hours of expensive mixing. I get the impression that some studios feel that that what we want is not possible. The sceptic in me thinks that this may be because my version won't be as profitable for them as their version
14. At that size you'll be looking at a pallet I'd think. If you can get it onto a pallet then this looks quite good - tried their calculator and it was under £50 http://palletisedshipping.co.uk/calculator.asp?#results
15.
HB Tele - £48.78 brand new (Assuming it's not a Deko) Take off the neck p/up cover, and reshape the headstock. Finally, dig out the file set and recut the nut - hey presto : £133 on eBay!
Not "He who shall not be named on Basschat" is it?
16. Mike & the Mechanics this summer in a civic theatre in Eastbourne. Only went as it was a rare chance to catch up with my old school mate who plays drums with them. The show was fantastic, brilliantly lit, and cleverly plotted to include a couple of Genesis bits and a crowd-pleasing performance by singer Andrew Roachford of his hit Cuddly Toy. Bass duties were swapped between three of them! One of those shows that you know are good as it was over before you even glanced at the time! Was introduced to the band as "I was in my first ever band with this guy" which I thought was quite touching!
17. Only gig I've ever left early Santana at teh Albert Hall, early 80s. Non-stop widdling, down on one knee, back to the audience. At one point the whole band except the percussion section left and those guys cooked for a few minutes. When the band came back on I looked at my drummer mate and didn't even have to say anything. Early tube home.
18. If you do go the outboard route there are also some boost pedals on the market with no eq - Carl Martin Hydra Boost is phenomenal on guitar (from personal experience) and has a good reputation for bass from other user reviews. Seymour Duncan Pick-up booster also has a good reputation for bass.
19. Was a short conversation on these a little while back, but looks like nobody has tried them yet (or are not saying)! 20.
You might both be right, but Isn't the point of the questionnaire to confirm such assumptions?
Well that's told me hasn't it?!
21. [s]Not needing this any more (now have a rhythm guitarist instead)! In excellent condition, will post pics tomorrow. Price includes postage.[/s] Hanging on to this for now as what I wanted has gone away.
22.
Done. Would have thought the level of performance should be included in the questions (Pre/Semi-pro/amateur) and size of the gigs. I guess my level of anxiety might increase if I was doing this as my main source of food.

Nicko, in response to your post, anxiety is anxiety regardless the situation-its more about the person. A pro may not feel anxious playing a pub gig but might shart himself playing the O2 or vice versa. Same as a an amateur may be fine playing in front of his friends but may crap himself playing a pub gig and again vice versa. The cognitive/behavioural/physiological symptoms are all the same. Its simply about performance and what makes you nervous. I know guys who've been playing 30 odd years who have played the albert hall and been fine, only to lose it when they've done a small acoustic duo gig. Crazy how it works
First of all Leeroyuk45 thanks for getting involved in the conversation, not just posting the poll and running! Nicko, I'd agree with Leeroy, that the opposite is probably more likely - the pro doing a pub gig could well feel more out of his comfort zone. I would have thought as you progress through bigger gigs your anxiety levels would stay about the same as you would be building confidence. Also, as the gigs get really big the become far less personal, no worries about being next to a punter at the urinals of the O2!!
23. Market is dreadful at the moment Nik. On the "I could be tempted by a P-Style..." let me know if the one linked below might be of interest as yours would make a lovely one cab solution for my needs, and I could then flog my Fender rumbles!
24. Worn tremolo possibly, especially if the previous owner was an over-eager shredder! Is it worth looking at a new 350 - looks fairly similar spec, and guitar quality has been going up consistently in the mid-range price band, and you get the benefit of a warranty, and know the guitar hasn't been thrashed mercilessly in a previous life!
