1. Only gig I've ever left early Santana at teh Albert Hall, early 80s. Non-stop widdling, down on one knee, back to the audience. At one point the whole band except the percussion section left and those guys cooked for a few minutes. When the band came back on I looked at my drummer mate and didn't even have to say anything. Early tube home.
2. If you do go the outboard route there are also some boost pedals on the market with no eq - Carl Martin Hydra Boost is phenomenal on guitar (from personal experience) and has a good reputation for bass from other user reviews. Seymour Duncan Pick-up booster also has a good reputation for bass.
3. Was a short conversation on these a little while back, but looks like nobody has tried them yet (or are not saying)! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/265935-db-bass-cabinets/page__p__2823098__hl__db__fromsearch__1#entry2823098
4.
You might both be right, but Isn't the point of the questionnaire to confirm such assumptions?
Well that's told me hasn't it?!
5. [s]Not needing this any more (now have a rhythm guitarist instead)! In excellent condition, will post pics tomorrow. Price includes postage.[/s] Hanging on to this for now as what I wanted has gone away.
6.
Done. Would have thought the level of performance should be included in the questions (Pre/Semi-pro/amateur) and size of the gigs. I guess my level of anxiety might increase if I was doing this as my main source of food.

Nicko, in response to your post, anxiety is anxiety regardless the situation-its more about the person. A pro may not feel anxious playing a pub gig but might shart himself playing the O2 or vice versa. Same as a an amateur may be fine playing in front of his friends but may crap himself playing a pub gig and again vice versa. The cognitive/behavioural/physiological symptoms are all the same. Its simply about performance and what makes you nervous. I know guys who've been playing 30 odd years who have played the albert hall and been fine, only to lose it when they've done a small acoustic duo gig. Crazy how it works
First of all Leeroyuk45 thanks for getting involved in the conversation, not just posting the poll and running! Nicko, I'd agree with Leeroy, that the opposite is probably more likely - the pro doing a pub gig could well feel more out of his comfort zone. I would have thought as you progress through bigger gigs your anxiety levels would stay about the same as you would be building confidence. Also, as the gigs get really big the become far less personal, no worries about being next to a punter at the urinals of the O2!!
7. Market is dreadful at the moment Nik. On the "I could be tempted by a P-Style..." let me know if the one linked below might be of interest as yours would make a lovely one cab solution for my needs, and I could then flog my Fender rumbles!
8. Worn tremolo possibly, especially if the previous owner was an over-eager shredder! Is it worth looking at a new 350 - looks fairly similar spec, and guitar quality has been going up consistently in the mid-range price band, and you get the benefit of a warranty, and know the guitar hasn't been thrashed mercilessly in a previous life!
9. Fretless 5, not 4. Never seen an "ordinary" Sei before, don't think I'm much of a fan.
10.
These may well do the trick: http://www.status-gr...index_home.html

Status hotwire flats are thumpy, not very bright. I have some on a short scale. I believe its because they are stiff and wound tight - you can't see any gaps between the windings.
Sorry, link hasn't worked quite as I expected - I did intend to link directly to the Half-Round page - these should be brighter than the flats, the longscale ones I tried were.

12.
They're Gotoh GB11W tuners. Lovely collection of ESPs there, the guitars too. I've had an ESP J since the early 90's. Many have come and go in that time, the likes of Fender, Sadowsky and their ilk, but the ESP is still the best J bass I've ever played.
Thanks Doc! Just had a look on the Gotoh site, funny, they look quite three dimensional in the photos, but in the diagram they're perfectly flat. Still like them, nice to see something a little different.
13. The price drop bump you've all been waiting for
14.
Sims Custom.
These guys have a great reputation - only seen one of their refin necks up close, but the work was stunning.
15. ^ This.
16. Love that Vintage 4, and the machine heads on the Amaze are, well, just amazing!
17. Here's mine - great bass playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LNB6M7yTBo
18. G&L ASAT Semi Hollow?
19. If you like what the amp is doing don't you want a neutral cab? By looking for a cab that adds character you could well find yourself getting away from what you originally liked in the amp.
20.
They are tricky little devils
Yes, but lovely looking things! Hope you find something.
21. Just finished Robert Cray's latest on vinyl, now for the one before
22. If you are in the East Midlands, Dave Mann Music - http://davemann.co.uk
23. Lovely story, thanks for sharing.
24. New pickup - Bartolini always seems to suit Cort, new nut, bridge and tuners and off you go. Or, go the whole hog and put in some Wal pickups and pre-amp
25.
But if they weren't drunk in the first place then it wouldn't have happened. Like drink driving...
Then you are opening a can of worms with the venue possibly being liable as it is an offence to allow customers to get drunk - never seen that one policed!!
