1. This? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/sterling-by-musicman-ray34ca-fl-black/96664
 2.
Rock music needs to be loud, it's very emotive and evokes responses like jumping and shouting en masse that would drown out the music if it wasn't loud.
But this goes back to Ambient's follow up post - is it too loud even for the genre? For me, some of the most energetic, vibrant sounding music is early Rock & Roll - Little Richard, Elvis Presley's That's Alright Mama etc. These days, if you hear a band covering these types of songs, unless they are an authentic R&R band, they'll beef them up both in the amount of notes they play and the volume and, IMO, kill the vibrancy of the original. So yes, Rock music needs to be loud, but not that loud!
 3.
There's being the appropriate volume for a specific genre, but then there's being loud for that genre. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.
Very true. There is no reason for being too loud for any genre. I went to see Alice Cooper at the Hammersmith Odeon early 2000s, and that was so loud you couldn't actually hear anything. There is this crazy badge of honour thing - if it's too loud you'r too old. Load of old tosh in my book!
 4.
"..what makes a sound musical - or not..." First you need to define what you mean by 'music', for example: - the expression of definite or abstract ideas and emotions using rhythm, melody, harmony and timbre/texture, sometimes in conjunction with words, using any source of sound including silence Any sound used in the above context can be considered musical (even silence) Any sound not used in the above context isn't IMO
This to me sounds like the answer - it isn't so much the sound (or lack of) in itself but why that sound was made IM&HO (in mine and his opinion)
 5.
I think this would go in an instant if you were willing to post fella, lovely looking thing!

I recon you're right. Get down the cycle shop and get some cardboard and parcel tape, and it'll soon be gone.
Thanks gents - Courier option including hard case for extra £35 now offered.
 6. Friday evening bump, and yes, sorry, no trades as I've got a project on the go.
 7. +1 to that Bilbo! My band plays a version of Stateboro' Blues where I play a root note with just one bar of walking every 4th bar and boy does it make the song pulse along nicely! As for the OP, one of my favourites, again hugely simple is The Weight, playing it somewhere between The Band and the Staple Singers.
 8. +1 - where are you - I know of two dealers near to me.
 9.
thanks Mike though they are actually PA power amps and not specific bass amp/speaker thread?
No Pete, loads of people on here use them with pre-amps. I'm sure if you ask one of this section's mods they'll agree and move it for you.
 10. I think there is a slight flaw in your argument David. It is not just of the luthier builds doing badly, it is a couple of name brands that hold on to their value - particularly Fender. Look at the way Cort, Aria, Ibanez and Yamaha plunge in value compared to Fender's own budget offering, which many feel are far inferior to the aforementioned brands. Enjoying your topics by the way, controversy without trolling in my opinion.
 11.
Don't like troll? OK, you're a stirrer then. That any better?
That was somewhat inevitable from you
 12. Love the shape - more a 1.5 cut?
 13. Bump for some poorly played sound clips (it was cold, my fingers weren't working properly, and I never go up the dusty end, but did to give the full range)!!
 14. Identical measurement necks but one in each finish?
 15.
busy
You've answered your own question Blue!
 16.
I'm sure they'd relic an NOS guitar quite well....
Probably do a much better job than most! Very nice guitar, GLWTS.
 17. I hate having my photograph taken, and I always seem to be looking down and miserable (and I really am not the latter all the time)! So I was really pleased with this one from Sunday's jaunt on Brighton seafront at the bikers' event, Brightona:
 18. Strange how a body that so authentically mimics years and years of wear and tear is matched to such an immaculate neck!
 19. About time you started reading more and posting less http://basschat.co.uk/topic/270948-does-he-offer-a-pickup-replacement-service/
 20.
I think on this you need a hot glue:
Says the man that put me off this idea in the first place
 21.
IMHO you want something without much flexibility, as it'll help stabilize the crack. The problem with PVA in this application is it's designed to work well between two bits of tighly clamped wood (where it'll be stronger than the wood itself in most cases) - but pouring it into a crack with no clamping it'll just end up a slightly flexible filler, with not much real improvement to the structural integrity of the crack (at least this is what I've seen with the PVA varieties I've used). If you want epoxy which isn't too brittle, try a slow cure variety, IME these are somewhat semi-flexible (moreso than the fast-cure kind), and can be turned into a good filler with the addition of a filling agent like "micro ballons". The other option as previously mentioned is to accurately machine a flat above the crack, then clamp a veneer with PVA so you regain the structural integrity via a solid non-cracked piece of wood, then sand to match the profile of the surrounding wood.
Thanks 6v6 - some good food for thought. Only issue I have now is getting the old PVA back out - seems to have softened during the second stripping!
 22.
Ha ha, imagine what mid-70s Fender motorcycles would have been like
23. Where are Fender currently at - I know their 2000-2010 period was way better than their 70s and 80s output. Have they continued? Then again, that's their guitars, the amps have been up and down with the cyber nonsense, although I love my Rumble cabs. I was saddened to hear from a dealer friend that Peavey are no longer their bomb proof former self.
 24. All the more reason to change that colour fast!! Look forward to seeing your updates.
