About 6 years ago John Mayall (who is 80 this year) did the last of his every other year tour of the UK - 36 dates, no days off! A drummer mate of mine did 270 gigs last year (plus some studio work).
I'm sure there are. But... 1. I went to a lot of time trouble to make the bass look attractive and take good photos of it to help the sale. The new seller has spent 5 minutes copying them out of my ad. 2. While the bass looked like it did in the photos at the time I sold it, there's no guarantee that it still looks like that now. New photos would show the current state of the instrument. I'm sure no-one on here would be prepared to bid if they were told that the photos they were looking at were several months old and who knows what had happened to the bass in the mean time?
Very much with you on this one BRX - yes, "worse things happen at sea" is the old adage, but yes, having your copyright infringed is something I would want to put right, especially as it does seem EBay's t&c's are on your side.

Just sold my Boss Micro BR to Ted, really quick and easy transaction, good man to do business with - thanks Ted. Mike

HMV- Not a real shocker, but a good read.
Mykesbass replied to MiltyG565's topic in General Discussion
I went right off HMV years ago when it was reported that they made more money through their marketing department charging record labels to stock their records through in store displays etc than they made by selling records. At that point they stopped "selling" records and just stocked them letting the labels do the selling. One of the worst examples was the way they sold advertising space in Q, Mojo etc, charging more than we could have bought the same ad for on the promise of stocking the album. To add insult to injury they wouldn't place the order (which you had paid to advertise) until last minute and sometimes the order would be pitiful, leaving you paying something like a fiver per record shipped! -
Thought I'd just bump this thread to seperate it from teh ugliest bass thread that it currently resides next to

I used to be an ESP stockist when I had a guitar shop and I always found their cheaper range (the 200 series) some of the best guitars in that price range, a little bit different in design and very well manufactured. Funnily enough it was upper models of the LTD range (400 mainly) that I had some issues with, but this one should be a fabulous bass. Looking forward to a review and pics!!
Roll off the volume controls a touch. You're right that they are full on though. I have a gorgeous Strat, but I'd love an SG2000 as its partner, perfect foil.
Never been that sort of guitarist, but seriously, it was just completely unmanagable with my DeVille 410. Still loved it to bits and it was seriously amazing unplugged, just so much resonance. I guess I just didn't play the appropriate musical style for it. It was the 30th Anniversary model of the 2000, stunning sunburst, oh stop, I'm starting to miss it!!
That's an SG200 mate, they're not contoured. I wish I'd not looked at this thread, I've got SG2000 GAS now
They are a bit special, however, I couldn't get on with mine - couldn't tame it it was just so full on!
I'd go a Les Paul type, twin humbuckers, or even a HSH format. It all depends on your budget. The PRS SE are good, but they have quite shallow necks, I had a custom double cut semi hollow. Sounded good, but not fat like a Les Paul. The higher priced Epiphones are very good, the Slash and the Ultras feel and sound superb according the to reviews I've read. Yamaha have some great models, a S/H SG 200 or a SG 500 could suit you to a tee, a bargain for what you get and they sound fat, and they do jazz and heavy rock beautifully, they have a coil tap too which the LP usually doesn't and that makes it very versatile. They feel like Les Pauls and the necks are lovely and comfy, reasonably chunky too. If you can stretch budget to an SG2000 it will probably be a treasure for you. SG200 SG2000 But buy secondhand, and try first if you possibly can.
If that floats your boat there is this one on here. They are exceptional guitars, very full on, huge sound and Luke's one is great value for money IMHO (and I have absolutely nothing to do with it)! By the way Nige, what's the one in the case - is it contoured at the front like a Gibson SG?

Would love to see this work - would get involved but have forgotten how to play 4 stringers

West Sussex? If its any help, to you or anyone able to get involved, mon-fri (not Wednesdays though) I work in midhurst/petworth
Yes, if anyone can get it to me (Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Brighton) I can get it to Petworth - I work in Fontwell.

Selling my Boss Micro BR Recorder - the 4 track discontinued model. Only used once - bought it as an aid to remembering the set list but then found my short term memory was better than I had imagined Complete with a 1GB SD card - rare as hens teeth and any bigger ones are not compatible. No power supply, but boxed with instruction manual and little posng pouch! Seem to be making between £60 and £80 on ebay so as this is in such good nick and has the SD card I'm looking for the upper end - so £80 posted please. If you could step into somebodys shoes for a time . .
Mykesbass replied to Black Coffee's topic in Bass Guitars
Part of this whole idea strikes me as a little macabre as obviously I wouldn't want to go through what he went through later in life, but would have loved to have spent a few moments in Ronnie Lane's shoes - something about the Faces for me, they just sound like they're having fun and playing like a band should play. -
Is this priced too highly? I'll happily take offers but it is in brand new condition! I'll also include a free Hercules fold-up floor stand and leather-ish suede strap if it sells this month.
No it isn't, but, beginning to sound like a stuck record here, without the major brand on the headstock guitars/basses are that bit harder to sell. I speak from experience as a former shop owner having had a hard time trying to shift excellent brands like Godin. Fret King do also get marked down by dealers quite often (for the same reason) but I'd stick to your guns for a bit longer and just accept that for the person without the usual prejudices looking for a great guitar this is a great deal.

Lovely instruments - their Strats are far superior to any Fender I've ever tried. As for the basses, I only had a quick try of the B1 which is the current cheaper version, I think yours has been replaced by the B2. They do seem to have a thing about see through purple - perhaps it's a Swiss thing! Great second hand buy, as with all these lessr known brands, they don't hold their value as they don't have a recognisable name on the headstock. Congrats on getting such a nice bass!

Here's the link - nothing to do with me, just flagging it up as it looks a nice bass: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/ibanez-sr700-bass-hardcase-final-reduction/1006809488

Not going to set my sights to the very high level Charic has set, but I am determined to play enough bass between rehearsals/gigs that I don't suffer from lack of callouses and end up with serious right hand blisters if we do two nights on the trot! That and a few vocal lessons.

This could end up an "off topic" not quite sure
Perhaps 'offended clowns!' should be the new catch phrase.... (runs for cover...)
Now that would make a great emoticon! Great work Jimmy, both on the gig and a thread!! -
Like looking at Judith Chalmers topless sunbathing ie a nice pair but very orange .
Hope you're not saying that from experience

Fender Select Active Jazz vs Suhr Classic J-bass
Mykesbass replied to Mark Dixon's topic in Bass Guitars
. I wouldn't neccesarilly be too put off by the Warmouth thing with the Sur - Warmouth make the bodies for quite a few other manufacturers from time to time -
Reason I raised this was not to knock Suhr but to highlight the better value options with your own, home grown luthier vs a boutique brand. Price up your favourite Warmoth body and neck and that should leave you and said luthier with a fair bit to play with. -
Fender Select Active Jazz vs Suhr Classic J-bass
Mykesbass replied to Mark Dixon's topic in Bass Guitars
Good grief.. was this recently? I suggested he looks at a Sadowsky metro, surely better than both..
About 6 years ago - a luthier I know had one in to do some set up work on (fabulous guitar) but was quite schocked when he took the neck off to see Warmoth stamps on both neck and body. -
Fender Select Active Jazz vs Suhr Classic J-bass
Mykesbass replied to Mark Dixon's topic in Bass Guitars
Mian advantage to the Fender is that it will hold its value better than the Suhr - far more popular brand that everyone has heard of. If on the other hand, moving the bass on is not a consideration then Suhr's are excellent, although I have seen one of them put together with Warmoth parts. May work out cheaper/better to look at another luthier build.
