1. Hope this isn't breaking forum etiquette but, I've got one of these: http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/56718_l.jpg and one of these: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/81945 which are both amazing but were from my 6 string days, not much call for them with an EUB! Let me know if they are of interest as I'm having a bit of a clear out and open to offers.
2.
How much for postage?
PM'd

4. I'm loving Peacock Blue strings - are they DR's? Welcome to the forum from another relatively newbie.
5. Doing this incredible stuff to me is like guitarists and shredding - there's always going to be someone to come along and do it faster with shredding, with bass, always someone to push the technique even further. In the end we'll always be going back to the James Jamersons, Bernard Edwards and Norman Watts Roys of this world.

7. Try these guys - don't know if they fit your genre but as Duke Ellington said, "there's only two types of music, good and bad". I'm an old jazz & blues fart but I still think these guys fit in the former category: http://www.myspace.com/kingprawnvideos
8.
I had a look at a few of these vids last night. Frankly, I don't care what instrument it's played on, or what advanced technique he has to perform to play it.. they just ain't good tunes. IMO, of course.
I used to have this argument with a young guitarist friend who was a genius, and kept on writing these more and more complex pieces for his band. Then wondered why he could never get the right musicians to play with. I kept challenging him to write a tune/song. He never understood the difference. Even as a technically fantastic, and a pleasant enough piece of music, (as opposed to a tune/song)I do find the technique is disrupting the composition - all that using the right hand up the left hand end seems to break the flow, even when not watching.
9. When you're in the Eastern most town in the UK a long way! Was in Ipswich for a couple of years and regularly went to Stowmarket (25 miles) or Felixstowe and Saxmundham for Jam sessions. You're only 25-ish miles from Norwich - surely there's something going on there? Check out Grapevine Magazine (great mag founded by a great bass player, Paul Burrows - now at the M.U.) for what's going on throughout your region.
10. Went, representing the company I worked for at the time (as everyone else had made their excuses) to a gig we were filming in Zwikau (sorry, don't know if that's correct spelling) amazing sports hall venue in the former East Germany - it was the James Last Orchestra and they were amazing. Got very drunk with the horn section later that night!
11. Shame I'm trying to downsize my guitarnumbers to up invest in more bass gear. Gordon Smith are amazing guitars - used to stock them when I had a guitar shop - never seen one that didn't have a "vibe" about them. Good luck with the sale - going now before temptation overcomes me!!
12.
At the risk of being trounced on here for watching such rubbish, have a look at 'Strictly Come Dancing'
Fortunately you haven't been trounced as hopefully the sensible folks on these forums realise that Strictly has some of the best live musicianship on UK television. Back to the topic (and from tonight's "Strictly") - Aretha Franklin's Do Right Woman.
13. First up, sitting at a big old farmhouse table at Bishopstock chewing the fat with Steve Cropper, Donald Duck Dunn and Booker T thinking "I'm the only one here I haven't heard of" when the stakes are raised even higher by Taj Mahal coming in and joining us. The other one was nearly calling security to get Mike McCartney removed from backstage at a John Mayall gig in Liverpool - soon realised that it wouldn't have gone down well with the home crowd!
14.
Maybe part of it is him asking to not be featured?
Isn't that why we're all not lead guitarists?
15. Yorkville XC115 for sale £100. In really good condition - only notable scuff pictured. 300w 8 ohm Eminence speaker, Canadian built cab.
16.
with the exception of Gladys Knight.
Now she was sensational.
17. 5 string Chambered swamp ash J bass body, 35" scale, maple neck, unlined ebony fretless fingerboard, Bartolini's (they just seem easy to use). Would have had this some time back but Warmoth say they can't do a chambered body with a 5 string neck pocket. Finish would be just letting the swamp ash speak for itself through something like the Fender Mary Kay white (unless I got whip the top off my old friend's former Sei 6 string that had the ugliest spalted maple it looked fantastic). 'til then I'll have to cary on with the EUB - problem is, everyone wants to play in E and I hate playing open - comes from years of playing rhythm guitar in a big band - all those Bb's and Eb's! Some really nice customs on show here - nice work all of you keeping those amazing luthiers in business.
18. I felt the Foo Fighters first song was hampered by the fact they were a 7 piece. Strip it down to 3 and then they'd have to find some energy from somewhere! Can't comment on Sting as I fell asleep (oops, that's probably a comment). Mike
19. Bump for new listing and lower reserve.
20. Is it me, the photograph or a very strange take on Shoreline Gold?
21.
Greetings from one West Sussex bass player to another.. the more the merrier I say!

Is here room in West Sussex for 2?
I should hope so - Silverfoxnik is nearer to you Captain - and we all know what a slow road the A27 is. Thanks for the welcome.
22.
At work we have access to a schertler system for about £350, think thats overkill haha.
Fitted a Schertler to a 'cello for a customer once - it was stunning. Also supplied them to a couple of classical guitarists as well with equally impressive results. You say "system", worth looking at using the pick-up alone as that's what we did with the 'cello, straight into an SR Jam 150. Mike
23. Thanks WaterofTyne for the original posting - fabulous stuff, well worth the 79p.
24. Sorry, been happily enjoying the forums for a while now, but due to the fact that I hate writing about myself, have somewhat rudely not introduced myself yet! I'm Mike, an ageing bass player in West Sussex, started learning double bass way back at school, switched to g***ar for many years before rediscovering the joys of bass six years ago when I owned a guitar shop - something to do with all the shredders and noodlers perhaps? I now play EUB (Aria SWB) through a Yamaha BBT 500H and matching 110 cab - love the portability. Playing stripped down acoustic covers in a 3 piece (trio, not suit). Thanks for the entertaining and informative forums, look forward to being in touch. Cheers, Mike
