  1. Interesting point @MacDaddy As someone who agreed with the comment on the other thread, perhapsit should be 'music should not be competitive'
  2. I must check their earlier stuff, thanks. I like the slightly bonkers mix of styles.
  3. Black Country New Road - not sure how to categorise -folky, punky, rock, world music? Another 6Music find.
  4. True the bit about not a competition but Frog Chorus was a great piece of music, way better than some of his old tut.
  5. Probably a topic for another thread, but is there anything left that hasn't been done before? AI possibly? But as the OP, I did put this thread up more for newly made music in response to @DTB's earlier thread, and not some quest for the former.
  6. Mick Fleetwood and Friends playing the music of Peter Green on Sky Arts (hopefully doing their usual number of repeats). Some lovely playing, and Mick having the time of his life!
  7. Gabriel's. Uncategorised, heard on 6Music, but fell fully in love with their Glastonbury performance.
  8. Acoustic and screening of his film. I'm waiting until he comes with full band.
  9. Haha, having made that suggestion in the OP I then went and ignored it with my own first post 🤔
  10. Ok, probably a bit mild for some tastes, but heard this, of all places on the in-store Tesco radio station today (they play a lot of good stuff). I think this has a fabulous groove, albeit a very laid back one. Also a nice cover of it by Earl Klugh:
  11. There's one band very big at the moment that this really applies to -Wet Leg. Couple of young women, their lyrical content is so inappropriate for us old farts and yet they are a fantastic act.
  12. I'm hoping it's Dixieland Jazz to really set those titles off.
  13. Ezra Collective, Jazz Hip-Hop, 6Mysic (again).
  14. My first suggestion, Fantastic Negrito. Heard on Later, and Craig Charles, 6Music.
  15. OK, I was thinking about doing this recently, but now it is directly in response to @DTBand his request where to find new music. A couple of suggestions, not rules; under 5 years old, where you first heard it, and an idea of genre would be good. PLEASE put the artist name in the post so the thread can be searched at a later date.
  16. Don't quite know what your definition of modern music is, but current music there is some great stuff being made. First Aid Kit - Swedish harmony duo, touch of Country, but more leaning towards melodic pop. Michael Kiwanuka - old school Soul with some very modern twists, Ezra Collective - funky Jazz, Little Simz - Hip Hop meets old James Bond theme music, Christine & the Queen's - don't know how to categorise but melodic, electronic dance, pop etc. I'm 59 and loving more new music in the last couple of years than I have for ages. Give BBC 6 Music a try.
  17. There is a huge thread on compression on here. I think it was @51m0n who posted a fairly full on guide to the art. Hopefully if it was he can provide a link, if not, sorry for tagging you!
  18. The semi hollow would also remove another (to me) problem in that the body is too thin.
  19. Great video, really well edited. And yes, @niloriusit does indeed sound like a very nice guitar!
  20. It's a bit fizzy and only good for pop 😏
  21. Give that to your drummer and start introducing 80s ballads to your set 😎
