  1. Reading some of the other replies made me think my reply might look like it missed the point. If your Bb (sorry, can't ever think of it as A# having played with horns many years ago) is already good tension then I have. However, from previous 5 string experience I have found that the biggest cause of woolly B string tone is a floppy string, hence my take on the problem.
  2. Worked in a record shop at weekends in the early 80s. On Sunday morning if we hadn't sold anything by 10.00 we'd put this on. Guaranteed to sell a copy within 2 or 3 tracks.
  3. Carbon reinforced neck and/or higher tension strings. A stiff neck will help reduce a floppy Bb, and tension is not only down to gauge - check d'addario's tension chart.
  4. Some people (not you @JJTee) have way too much time on their hands.
  5. Near Burton on Trent, old home of many fine ales. All down to the water apparently.
  6. First job, Spartan Records, independent distributors early 80s. Telesales took orders all handwritten. One girl took an order from a major wholesaler and wrote their slightly misheard address out ending with Newcastle !!
  7. Big fan of Cort EXCEPT for their pre-amps.
  8. Sky Arts have been showing a lot of Paul Simon shows lately. Yesterday the showed the 1991 Live in Central Park. Overall, very enjoyable but he really shouldn't have done BOTW without Art! Also a couple of reworkings, Cecilia being the worst offender, were a bit naff to my ears. The band however were wonderful - Richard Tee, Steve Gadd, Michael Brecker, and Armand Sabal-Lecco showing off some great chops, and a fair collection of bass-porn!
  9. Stay on the M4, you soon get past it.
  10. What a great tribute. Love that fingerboard.
  11. Littlehampton is known down here as LA. So, so wrong 😯
  12. Friendly, lively city with some great music venues (Cluny is great). On the other side of the river is the fabulous Sage - a concert hall type venue. Surrounded by amazing countryside, but bloomin' cold for us southern softies!
  13. Can't you take it in on a carnet? Will cost (£400 ish) but is the official way of taking kit across borders if it is coming back again. Doesn't help for merch though.
  14. Thanks. Really like the effect, even before you tamed it! Thinking of trying it on a furniture project.
  15. That stain looks great. How did you extract it from the turmeric? Did you rub straight from the root, or soak it?
  16. Something different. As @Dad3353says, a bass is a bass (at least is is to the vast majority of band mates and even larger majority of punters), so take the opportunity to enjoy something different.
  17. A Lee donkey...oops, profanity filter ruined an already bad pun.
  18. Not as numerous - or in the case of 70s Fenders, very undesirable. Funny how they got better with age 😏
  19. Finishes the bass off nicely 👍
  20. That'll be the Boom Boom Club run by Pete Feenstra. Hosts lots of older name artists - Focus, Walter Trout, Mick Taylor etc.
  21. Ah, but the Telecaster must be the Precision of the skinny string world.
  22. Had a similar experience with Van Morrison. Got to see him twice in two weeks. First time stunning, second time, as you said, was like listening to a CD.
  23. Went with @Mickeyboroto see Del Amitri following a thread on here about an excellent documentary about them. Fortunately the support band were great...
