  1. Whereabouts are you? There's a recommended techs thread which I'll go and find. £120 bench charge does sound excessive.
  2. Just got this today as a late Christmas present. Thanks for the heads up @wateroftyne
  3. Was a huge fan of Costello and Sade (yes, weird mix I know), and Sade was a highlight for me. Was there at Wembley for this, so only saw the bits of the US show that was on very old technology giant screens between the UK acts. Great day.
  4. Was rehearsing (rhythm guitar) with a big band many years ago when the pianist, immediately behind me, fell off his stool. After the initial laugh at a bit of clumsiness I realised the poor man wasn't messing and had sadly died from a heart attack.
  5. This. I've tried groundwounds (a long while ago) for the same reason. To my ears d'addario Chromes do it much better.
  6. Time to revive this thread - recorded in 2011 but only released this year, and one of my Christmas CDs, a highly recommended offering from Mavis Staples and Levon Helm, Carry Me Home. Sample of the album here:
  7. With all that foliage it looks more like someone's been Close to the Hedge.
  8. I thought it was universally accepted that this odious berk was the real Penfold doppleganger.
  9. Harley Benton are reverse engineering them as we type!
  10. Congratulations on a bold project! Looks great. As for riff requests, it would be great if you did the demo in the style of Ed Friedland or our very own @Dood playing the same short riff/motif through all the different settings.
  11. Nice one! Stephen Foster is a decent bloke. Proper music fan and occasional Blues promoter. Used to be on BBC Radio Suffolk.
  12. Hi S'manth, Might be worth sticking a request up in the recording section - a lot of Basschatters do stick to certain sections and the right people may not see this request.
  13. Great project. Looking forward to seeing this progress.
  14. Someone make me an offer on this (even daft trade ideas) or I'll have to learn how to use the darned thing 😎
  15. Enjoying The Head on the Door. Disintegration sounds good, but wasn't what I was expecting, so will go back to it later. Thanks for the input so far.
  16. I used to listen and vote every month, but gave it a rest and never dropped back in. Will endeavour to do so again. But this does reflect on what @bubinga5says in the OP that there does seem to be an apathy towards new music on here.
  17. Come on. Yes, you have a point, but you don't really need to make it (again). Lots of lovely Doobie Brothers, Michael Franks vibes going on. Sure it isn't breaking new ground but it is nice, good quality stuff.
  18. That cat of yours has done it a fine relic job there 😏
  19. Don't worry! I think my phrase getting into is possibly not quite as hardcore as it could be for some. I've just been hearing something more in what they have been playing on the radio than I've heard before and I like it.
  20. I think Friday is one of those unfortunate songs that has become a victim of its own success. A very cleverly crafted piece that just gets played way too often (but then I've made no excuses for being a fan of our and out pop music).
  21. It was a single, In Between Days that really caught my ear the other day.
  22. Bit of a curve ball for me as I'm more soul and groove oriented music, but keep hearing Cure tracks on 6 Music and the more I hear them the more I like them. Any particular album recommendations from any fans out there please?
  23. This. The Rolling Stones with just Mick and Keith still make it in my book, but without an important original (or early replacement) member (Yardbirds) then it's just a tribute act.
