  1. He is a huge talent, but sorry, Peter Green made Fleetwood Mac.
  2. Just been enjoying your YouTube channel @Bart Funk Bass. Got some really interesting tracks on there and liking the repetitive lines - giving me a good workout while I'm trying to get my mojo back (and my fingers working again)!
  3. I'd put this track in the 'alright, but not amazing' pile except for one bit - check the beautiful bass note at the end of the horn riff just after the little vocal refrain. Absolute masterclass in dropping the note in exactly the right place!
  4. Have a look through here -
  5. Dug this album out as I'm rediscovering my love for Jazz. Great choice! Interesting use of cello, some sublime cornet playing, and some fabulous guitar. A great 'gateway' album for anyone wanting a second step into the world of Jazz - accessible, yet still very credible (i.e. not Dinner Jazz)!
  6. One of my early purchases was Wes Montgomery Fingerpicking - went to the listening booth in Dobell's and was blown away by it. Proper grown up experience for a 12 or 13 year old!
  7. Bill Evans always had (to my ears) a very clean, modern sound, which this tribute replicates nicely. Not his jazziest moment, but I do like his work with Tony Bennett
  8. Great review and a fabulous looking cab. Congratulations to all involved. @steviereading your website, what was the name of your MI distribution company? I'm wondering if our paths crossed during my short tenure as owner of the Guitar Shop in Ipswich.
  9. Note the slightly different title of the Tabby Cat record. Someone didn't proofread the advert 🤨
  10. Arawak instantly rang bells from my record shop days. Here's a link to a little bit of information: https://www.britishrecordshoparchive.org/arawak-records.html
  11. This. Looks like the only option. @Nick715there are a couple of specialist online traders for Japanese basses. I follow one on Facebook - will find a link and post it on here. There's also Ishibashi, a Japanese shop who have a massive secondhand inventory, and are very experienced exporters.
  12. Seems to be the way with most pub/club musos I've met. They either don't get it, or don't want to get it. It's ALWAYS the rock versions of Too Hard to Handle and Ain't No Love 😟
  13. Had this with a band, a stripped down, semi acoustic gig every month. Do try and have a lot of material, but surprisingly, many punters like familiarity and would ask us for songs we hadn't played that particular month.
  14. Lovely bit of old school Jazz on Cerys Matthews' show this morning - Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, Duke's Place, with an interesting clarinet solo courtesy of Barney Bigard.
  15. A lot of truth in this - finding a decent human being who will listen trump's perfect time keeping in my book.
  16. There are a few sites where you can pick which instruments you want and mute your own. Can't remember if this was the site I used once, but certainly something like this. https://www.karaoke-version.co.uk/custombackingtrack/
  17. Nick Fyffe - the 'other' Jamiroquai bass player who was great in Temperance Movement - two very different sounding bands.
  18. This is where chatting on a forum becomes so much more difficult than having a chat in real life, so please don't think I' m being argumentative for the sake of it. I still think you need to re-think this. Making a recording can still be primarily for getting gigs, but it will be getting you gigs as it increases your credibility as an originals band, and not because you can play a half decent version of Sex on Fire/Brown Eyed Girl/Crossroads. Getting the gigs will also be through raised awareness from myriad internet radio shows (plenty of genre specific ones out there) and social media. Also, think of the recording process as part of the fun. My last band did rhythm track live to guide vocal, the vocals and guitars added on top. This got us good traction in the rock/blues genre, ended up doing a tour, some nice supports, and played the Skegness Rock & Blues festival.
  19. If you are all originals then change the mindset a little. A demo for gigs is cover band territory. An original ep is for airplay, selling at gigs, and digital distribution (as well as getting gigs). So make it the best you can.
  20. Perhaps because he's too busy playing to post on here? 😎
  21. Nu Metal, New Labour, what is it with the nostalgia for all this 90s dross?
