  1. If you read through the thread you'll find I did 😏
  2. Check the IP address, looks like Inti is back 🤨
  3. There is, in my opinion, a sublime to the ridiculous couple of covers of one song, Hallelujah. Sublime; Jeff Buckley. Ridiculous; Alexandra Burke. I do have to admire Simon Cowell's chutzpah in creating such a dreadful version of a song that contains the line 'but you don't really care for music, do you?'
  4. Really? Sounds like it has been saturated in effects/autotune.
  5. Bass player committing the cardinal sin of playing the guitar line.
  6. That's great. Top detective work, much appreciated!
  7. Can anyone recommend a good (audio quality and track selection) Toots CD - I need that version of Louie Louie in my collection!
  8. Big fan of the Playing for Change organisation. They make some great music.
  9. Sorry, been neglecting this thread (busy working), but just heard this absolute corker by Toots & the Maytals. What a vocal performance, some great brass, and a very interesting guitar solo!
  10. I thought of the Acinonyx as soon as I saw this. Very nice.
  11. Showing my age - used to be Andre Previn!
  12. A friend who runs several music quizzes posted about a quiz where teams try to outdo each other with puns or plays on words of band names. This one I thought was an absolute belter: Al Green was my Valet. I know there are many on here that love a good pun - please fire away with your contributions.
  13. This (but again struggling for an example).
  14. Nah, they all sound the same - it's all in the fingers 😎
  15. Neither Will Birch's excellent biography nor the film pulled their punches, but neither portrayed him as such.
  16. Saw 81 year old Tom Jones last year in a 300 capacity club in Brighton. He was incredible. Great voice and totally part of the band. Reason for the gig was so he could play some new material in amongst the classics, a promotion with his label and the local record shop.
  17. I'm closer to the drummer than the singer on this. You are there to please the audience, if that doesn't please you you are in the wrong job. As a compromise, I've always used the occasional segue to maximise number of songs, but allow a little bit of chat.
  18. Sadly also seems to be the case for CD releases these days.
  19. Well every day really is a school day. I never knew there was bass guitar on I Feel Love, thought it was all synth.
  20. Having heard John Martyn, Solid Air on the radio this afternoon, I think Danny Thompson might be vying for a place on my earlier list.
