  1. Wow, that's coming from a very dark place. You OK Hun?!
  2. Seen clips in the past, but look forward to listening to the full show. Thanks for posting @julesb
  3. Anyone looking for a bit of an updated take on the Blues check out Fantastic Negrito. Quite a funky take but still firmly rooted in the genre.
  4. Trevor Horn did some fun stuff with the SACD mixes of the Frankie goes to Hollywood album.
  5. Err, no. Fretless has a fingerboard, just like classical stringed instruments.
  6. Nice, but the one I played had a very obvious edge to the fingerboard which I found a little uncomfortable.
  7. SX are another excellent budget brand. Just wish they had done the fade horizontally so it looked right when you are playing it.
  8. Brighton is full of young musos, both local and BIMM students. It is also an important stop on the new band tour circuit. But 13 miles inland we are a complete cultural desert 😕
  9. The Cluny in Newcastle. Don't have a lot of tributes, but cracking venue.
  10. Looks great. Congratulations!
  11. I had this for house insurance - you might be seen on TV with one of your artists an people will know you are not at home 🧐 Only worked for a tiny independent label at the time.
  12. No, but if you do, let me know as you are fairly local, so I'll come and see you play!
  13. While the borrowing of backing tracks is common in Reggae, and Lover's Rock is full of covers of pop hits there is a huge wealth of original material in the genre. Give the Basschat playlist a whirl, plenty of original material on there.
  14. I used Privilege for years when I worked in record companies as I had issues with other companies not wanting to cover me. Might be worth a look.
  15. Swing Low was a rugby drinking game for years before becoming used by England fans. Along with its gestures it really has become outdated (like the Black & White Minstrel Show) and should be quietly let out to pasture.
  16. Hmm, don't think the music segments in Tiswas were really that big an influence (certainly not in my school). Conversely, kids films these days do provide a rich soundtrack. My kids grew up with Pixar and DreamWorks films and picked up a wide appreciation of music from them.
  17. Heard a demo of one of the top end SRs that has big singles in and it sounded lovely. Sorry, never did find the clip a second time.
  18. His version of Stormy Monday Blues is pretty much the go to version for most Blues bands.
  19. Guess I should have seen the writing on the wall with my old band when they all wanted to do the Coverdale version of Ain't no Love 😕
  20. I think (trying to listen on my phone at Heathrow arrivals hall) around 1.30 when drums double time.
  21. As per the title of the thread, yes, I love Jazz, but sometimes... This track has such a nice feel. Grooves along beautifully, and then, absolute blooming carnage. Why? It ain't big, and it ain't clever. Grump over for now.
  22. Check out the sale of goods act rather than rely on any guarantees. You may still be able to claim.
  23. Surgical spirit will help the finger but not the cause.
  24. I think it was the red wine that did that!
  25. Nice guy. Race horse ownership was the subject of the day when I met him.
