  1. Nadine Shah stood in for Guy Garvey on 6 Music on Sunday. Thought this was a corker!
  2. I've known of him as a Jazz artist. Seems like he works on a lot on arts projects. Looks like a very talented guy.
  3. Don't know if he is doing this show elsewhere, but this looks like an interesting gig, and just down the road from me! https://botw.ticketline.co.uk/order/tickets/13357879/cleveland-watkiss-presents-the-great-jamaican-songbook-at-komedia-brighton-brighton-komedia-2021-10-25-19-30-00
  4. Bit of a theme with their covers - slightly reminiscent of Eloise. Big, grandiose production numbers.
  5. Pretty jealous. Would love to play some Band stuff again, especially with a drummer that gets it.
  6. Kula Shaker covered Deep Purple, but I didn't know until later that Deep Purple were already covering this:
  7. This. There is a thread that I will try to find of Basschatters near to you who are happy to help out if you don't fancy doing it yourself. Update:
  8. Yes, sorry, wasn't implying anything against older music. Big fan of Autumn Leaves, although I don't like Miller. Was partly a reflection of my late mum's attitude who hated Vera Lynn and the fact that everyone thought it was what 'people if her age' wanted. She was a Sinatra fan but also partial to a bit of Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones.
  9. The old adage, how do you make a small fortune in the music business? Start with a large one.
  10. Fabulous. The funny thing is though, this music is now older than most of the old folk we have left. Even for those in there 90s Glen Miller is music of their childhood.
  11. Ha, yes. Even as a big Dylan fan, his version is not one of his finest moments!
  12. Ha, yes. Even as a big Dylan fan, his version is not one of his finest moments!
  13. We used to play this always announcing it as a Dylan song. Usually got a few bemused punters.
  14. I heard Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit on the radio yesterday. As a soul/jazz fan in my teens it was years before I got to hear this version, but knew and loved this early CTI recording by George Benson.
  15. Not having a personal dig at you @stonevibe but I find it a little disturbing that gear gets reported on using pure speculation! 'The end result is a crisp clean, a slight gain, or a brutal fuzz sound. And all this without losing the low frequencies.'
  16. The way you have written this post implies you haven't actually played one?
  17. I really need to update this - been some excellent suggestions and some new contributors. Annoyingly, my laptop audio/video has gone wonky, so will have to try and do it on my phone.
  18. @EBS_freak beat me to the Gipsy Kings, so here's another French track from around that time - Les Negresses Vertes
  19. Part of a general change in music consumption, with pop acts (Little Mix, Ariana Grande) playing arenas way bigger than pop acts (Nik Kershaw, Thompson Twins) thirty plus years ago. The latter would have way outsold the former in record sales.
  20. This. My Shuker P has a Nordstrand that can certainly be impolite.
  21. Or Norman Wisdom and Rik Wakeman... http://youtu.be/Mdjw2RJU19A
  22. I'm a big fan of Tom Morello's work with Bruce Springsteen. Guitar on Ghost of Tom Joad is just so different from what you would expect, and the clash of styles works brilliantly, giving it an edge.
  23. Bet it was a wrench leaving them ..
