  1. Hope you've practiced the Theme From Z Cars...
  2. Nordstrand Big Singles. They do an EMG 35 fitting. I heard these on a demo of a high end Ibanez and loved them (annoyingly never found the video again)!
  3. Oh, and hoping the Firebird/Thunderbird still gets built (not that I could commission it)!
  4. Another absolutely stunning build. Congratulations.
  5. Nice! Would love to attain that level. 1 x 45 with a couple of covers thrown in was the best I got to.
  6. Used to do about 2 hours in total with a 15 min break, do usually was 1x45 and 1x60. Pubs, holiday parks and clubs around Sussex.
  7. Yep. But those compilations introduced so many to the genre.
  8. It was a bit poppy, but boy did we sell lots of copies of that album in the record shop I worked in!
  9. A pair of (Zoot Bass) Purple Chili 112s without tweeters. They are Celestion loaded, very lightweight, and to my ears, have a little bit of built in colour - not at all FFRR (or FRFR whichever way we're calling it now). Ideal for me playing fingerstyle, Blues, Blues Rock, Americana. Not sure how they would sound if someone wanted bright sparkly tones, but the mellowness suits me - I love 'em.
  10. Just a little tribute to Kris Kristofferson - a testament to his songwriting in that this Country songwriter wrote a song that was a huge soul hit for Gladys Knight and provided John Holt with this great single:
  11. Just seen the autocorrect in my quoted post aaaagggghhhh!
  12. Not a fan of Duran Duran, but then not much more of a fan of the band I will suggest had a much more iconic bassline in 1982 - The Jam, Town Called Malice.
  13. Having to keep up with John Peel's virtuoso performance.
  14. Hasn't the Fender PBAC, the MIJ semi acoustic P Bass from the 90s got a bit of a contour?
  15. Our former rugby club president is one Bob Shed. Sadly he's a plumber, not a felter.
  16. Fully understand the gig bag scenario. I've always stuck with the Hiscox hard case. I still stick with the disrespect statement - sure there are external reasons why the tuning can change (although, honestly, it has never happened to me, previously gigging regularly under all sorts of conditions), but a floor or rack tuner is so much more discreet.
  17. As a hater of the headstock tuner, you have highlighted my point in that Dingwall spent time and care shaping the headstock, adding a nice mother of pearl or abalone D, then reduced the weight as much as possible for this to happen! First of all, can Leland actually read this tuner in its current position? Secondly, massive disrespect to the maker not trusting it to stay in tune for the duration of a gig. It was a running joke in my last band borrowing the guitarist's tuner just to find my Shuker was still in tune from the previous gig. Anyway, each to their own.
  18. @tauzero someone out there is inventing one right now!
  19. Chrome or nickel yes. I think black plastic (like EMG) would still be wrong. And yes, I know it's a cheap and easy fix, but it just surprises me that the designers don't share this old man's taste
  20. That's the second lovely looking bass to be posted on here in the last couple of days absolutely ruined (IMO) by these ghastly MM style humbuckers. They look fine on the right basses, but anything going retro and hollow bodied, they just look totally wrong. Reverend Dub King was the other for anyone interested in my little rant.
  21. Just sold a bass to Mike. Great communication and a really easy sale. Would happily do business again with him. Buy/sell with confidence!
  22. 'scuse me Mr apostrophe police officer, dependant...
  23. Oh yes, the clip on tuner, bass or guitar is an awful look. Couple of grand worth of instrument, finest hardwoods, beautifully designed and inlaid headstock. Hey you know what would look great - a bit of purple plastic stuck on the end there 😡
  24. She must be doing something right - even Bob Dylan has covered one of her songs...
