  1. I know. Only a gentle joke as so often these things collapse into rose-tinted nostalgia (and yes, I also know you are not one of the guilty parties). Would have loved to have been around and on that scene.
  2. Yeah, biggest seller 1971 Dawn, Knock Three Times. Others in the top 100 included Benny Hill, Clive Dunn, The Mixtures and Ray Stevens Bridget the Midget. Great times indeed 😎
  3. That's why I put it in quote marks. There are however inconsistencies throughout, which a session player would not have left in. Sure, the finished thing wouldn't have sounded the same, but that's not why you would get a top session player in.
  4. Sorry, absolute baloney that you would hear the fixes on tape if done properly. A better argument is the one @No. 8 Wire gives, and one I'll happily accept.
  5. But how much fixing? I visited a studio back in 2000 where the drum track for a well known British rock act was being painstakingly 'corrected' by the producer and engineer. They spent more time on the album than the band.
  6. Something slightly different from Labelle that I stumbled across and enjoyed:
  7. No-one has perfect timing after 4 pints of Best Bitter 😯 Yes, loads of 'mistakes' that a top session player would have ironed out, but then it really wouldn't sound anywhere near as good.
  8. Probably get a better resale value for the Alien as they are a 'known' bass. Guild are great, but not a particularly known model (or brand when it comes to bass).
  9. This video came up on the one that @ubit posted. The description at the top is great. The rest is a bit of a let down.
  10. Looks like at lot of waste going on in some of those scenes.
  11. Guitarist is the lovely Eliana Cargnelutti. Toured with her last year and did a couple of gigs with her at the start of this year. Her blues band is great - absolutely top bass player and drummer.
  12. Having a shot at a bass guitar derivative of Giorgi Moroder's bassline for I Feel Love. Has to be very derivative as the original synth line is several layers (including drums) blending in to one another. Really just a workout to get a really nice steady repeating pattern going.
  13. Lindsey Buckingham was in FM? Do the Overland brothers know of this?
  14. He also severed his thumb in a freak gardening accident with a garden gnome 🤘
  15. Try this thread to find a friendly local Basschatter who may be able to help:
  16. Whereabouts does this go in your signal path?
  17. Back when they were current, I much preferred the remixes of Depeche Mode singles.
  18. Just take a quick listen to Pick of the Pops Take 2 (if it still exists) to hear how awful the vast bulk of pop music has been throughout the decades (and that's from a fan of pop music).
  19. The reissue of Dusty in Memphis has great sleeve notes by Jerry Wexler, Tom Dowd and Arif Mardin telling the story of the recording. Well worth a read.
  20. Spoke to my pal who plays at a very high level and he's hearing that his level of gigs won't be back until 2022!
